And thanks for the link to the chevy forum. Reconfirms my beliefs that I bought a piece of crap trying to support our neighbors to the North and South! Hope your feeling better! :D Bryce

Don't stop now....check out the Toyota, Honda, BMW, etc. forums before you make your final decision. Toyotas are getting to be the most recalled vehicles out there and have tremendous problems with engine failures due to sludge formation from an inadequate PCV system and front suspensions on Tundras collapsing and freezing up from ball joints failing (see huge recall on Tundra's for this.) And before you buy a new Tundra keep in mind that it has an elastomeric timing belt driving those four overhead cams. Nice and quiet and reliable until it snaps (or needs replacement) at 100K. Somehow a pickup truck with a timing belt just does not fit my preconcieved notions of bulletproof.

Granted the problems you had are not really defensable but they are pretty minor compared to the suspension failing or the motor failing.

Don't just assume the domestic manufacturers are the only ones with problems in the field.

There are internet forums that would have you believe each and every product on earth is the biggest piece of crap around. Similarily, there are forums on the exact same products that the owners love them. Much like the FJRforum posters tend to "forgive" the tickers and other problems with the FJR when it could be made to look like junk with the failures reported.
No assumptions here, have been reading quite a lot. That is why I have not made another hasty decision. In a previous post in this thread, I made a statement about Japanese manufacturers having their problems too. Was ready to buy a new Camry V-6 6-speed, but found out about tranny problems through a posting forum. :) It just irks me to buy a 34k truck and have to rant and rave to get it fixed. While I expect a manufacturing defect here and there, the assembly process and the engineering process that went into it is piss-poor imo.

Hit a bump in the road and the seat belt return springs make a nice "boing" noise.

Door seals creak and groan continuously.

Absolutely no excuse for this except penny pinching by the manufacturers.

And I do value your opninion, Jestal! Also appreciate the knowledge that you share on this forum!

YEP!

Anything to help out Duc! :)

I have a 2004 Nissan Titan and it's a great truck, But EVERY truck is going to have it's share of problems...

Mine has been, For the most part, 100% maintenance free with the exception of Nissan using smaller brake rotors on the front, SO they replaced all problem units.

My only other problem was the 4WD. I went to engage it during a heavy snow we had a few months ago, And snapped the final drive gear in the transfer case! small problem with nissan, But only on 04's. And the replaced it 100%. Nissan Customer care has treated me like royalty, So they have a future customer! :)

It seems like you always hear these types of stories. I've always owned GM vehicles, with the exception of a short stint with an Escort, and have never had any problems. Really, not one, through 5 new trucks, and 2 new cars. I guess I'm lucky, since I too expect something small to go wrong. I work for GM too, and I know that some people have the exact opposite luck. A friend of mine bought the exact same truck as my wife's, an 05 Envoy. Same options, everything. He's had that thing in the shop about 20 times for a bunch of small stuff. I feel for Ducati though, I think people get more annoyed at the 5 small things than the 1 big thing, like the Toyota trannies. It happens to every manufacturer, though it seems that they unfairly make a huge deal out of it when it's a domestic manufacturer, and seems like the auto press lets the foreign man. off the hook. Another friend of our's has a Mercedes-Benz ML500, a 65,000 SUV. He's had it in the shop over 15 times, so I guess it doesn't matter how much you spend.

+1

Prior to my Nissan, I had a GMC truck that was fantastic! Must have been built on a wednesday!

To answer your question, The more you spend on the vehicle, The more it costs for repairs...Word

+1 to all the above. I have a mechanic who does the things I can't or won't and he says years ago there was good apples and bad ones, but says today seems like every model and make have their own cross to bear. Use to be Toyota or other Jap makes would run forever. And so would many Chrysler's. Not anymore....PM. <>< :angry2:

Well, went to pick up my truck again, and thought it funny that the service rep brings up a nice quad cab Denali. Looks like the keys

got mixed up that morning. Unfortunately, I didn't think to test drive the car before I had them park it since i had to take the bike home

and have Mom give me a ride back to the dealer in the evening. Needless to say, it looks like they worked on the wrong car :angry2:

Left it there and wrote a note to have the Service Mgr. give me a call in the morning.

All I need now is the Morton Salt Girl.....

Sounds like you have some ****** dealers near you. Guess it's just like Yamaha dealers, you have to find one that will take care of you. You should call their customer service hotline.

Update:

Service Mgr. called @ 4PM to notify my truck was ready. Said they forgot to install Insulation around heater core. No ****!

Will stop by dealer next day off to have a chat with the Manager of the dealership. I think the least they could do is wash the truck or fill it with gas since I had to make 2 extra trips. Service at its best! I'm usually a pretty passive person, but this has me more than a little upset.

Still have to go and pick up the truck this evening.

I will give them a kudo for fixing some of the squeeks that the previous dealer failed to do!

Well....just got it back, the heater is much more quiet. Failed to lube door seals or clean inside windshield. Truck has a nice aroma of coolant.

I should have taken the Quad cab Denali yesterday when they got the key tags mixed up. I'll stop pissing & moaning for now!.....maybe.
