Aren't helmet's required in PA? Sounds like this guy rides helmet-less all the time from the news story. Don't cops ticket helmetless riders in helmet required states?

Something tells me a ticket is the least of his worries at this point...

Loved this quote from Ben...

"He talked about being a risk-taker and I'm not really a risk-taker. I'm pretty conservative and laid back, but the big thing is to just be careful," Roethlisberger said at the time. "I'll just continue to be careful. I told him we don't ever ride alone, we always ride in a group of people, and I think it makes it even more safe."
Hard to believe that someone who has been riding for a while thinks "being careful" is the big thing, but doesn't think wearing gear is part of that equation. Hard to "be careful" when a seasoned citizen who can't see over the steering wheel decides to take your lane too... Oh, and ride in a group of people... god only knows that toy runs are safe as can be....

Nah Mike, you need a helmet when a 400 lb. lineman is bearing down on you... but when your 600 lb. cruiser is about to roll over you, or that 2 ton pink caddy is about to make you a T-bone... all that matters is "being careful"...

His choice... now he gets to live with the consequences... although I wish him a quick recovery...

I agree with you on the recovery....but the rest....can you say OUCH....thats going to leave a mark!....I knew you could.... :)

Hopefully, he'll be ok, but sheeze, what an *****.

Sounds like (reading between the lines) car didn't see him and turned in front of him, (wonder if he has a headlight modulator). If it's true that PA just repealed their helmet law, I wonder if this high-profile accident will cause it to be put back.

Can they have ignorantly loud pipes that save lives too???? (read it like...do you want fries with that).... :D

Picture of m/c and car being towed away...

From news reports I just heard, sounds like he'll be ok.

When you were first talking for some reason I envisioned a cruiser not a sport bike....he should know better...what a putz....

The helmet law has been repealed here, as it has been in most states. Yes, I said most. More states DON'T have a helmet law (in one form or another) than those that do. They won't just put the law back. They can't. It has to go through the same red tape that it tood to have it repealed and then it will have to pass through legislation.

Hoping for a full recovery. I'm a Steeler fan and Charlie Batch can't get us Super Bowl ring #6 (no, that's not the only reason I hope for a full recovery).

Roethlisberger continued to ride after Winslow's accident and that angered Terry Bradshaw, who quarterbacked the Steelers to four Super Bowl victories during the 1970s.
Visiting the Steelers' training camp last summer, Bradshaw remarked: "Ride it when you retire."
:glare:

Probably because all of the footage of him on a bike up to this point has been him on his Harley.

Oh, come on, given the same ref crew as XL, anyone could get the Steelers ring #6.

Not really sure what you're talking about. Were there issues? I'm checking the websites and there aren't any '*' or any mention of the game being played under protest. Mike Holmgren gave the Steelers credit for the win....what does he know anyway....

Oh yea, it's a 2005 'busa. I mean, if you had to pick a bike to ride helmetless, it'd certainly be that one. Sheeze.

Yep -- started getting the calls and comments this afternoon about "how dangerous motorcycles are"...thanks to this guy (think he is 24 and the Suzuki was given to him by Suzuki for promotion) who chose to ride WITHOUT a helmet  , and apparently plowed into an old lady who turned her urban warrier directly into his path.

Sounds like he will recover - he may not be smiling for awhile, but he is damn lucky to be alive after bouncing off the windshield and onto the pavement on his head. Unbelievable. Jay
