Nicky hayden was fastest for the test. Read the results and press releases here. Also a very cool picture of Nicky at full lean.

It is amazing how close they all are for best times.

From roadracingworld.com "...then we just focused on the standard engine and this year’s chassis, working on the general set-up."

Am I right in understanding that Nichy Hayden and Honda will not be using the pneumatic valve engine for the time being?

I think they were testing it initially to shake it down. Then went back to the 07 motor to use as a baseline for testing. If you read into what they are saying the pneumatic valve motor may be having teething pains.

I'm hoping Nicky and Honda team get it together this year. With all the issues with last years Honda changes are needed. Nicky could very easily be champ again if he has the right bike and tyres combo IMO. Can't wait for the new season!! PM. <>< ;)

I think they were testing it half way through last year. A lot f the others are using them too and seem to be doing better than Honda with it.

Seems pretty apparent that the focus of the testing is on the chassis and tires. You can have all the power in the world, but, if the front end is pushing like a shopping cart with a broken front wheel, you're not gonna go anywhere. Assuming the standard and pneumatic engines have the same physical characteristics, they can continue to evolve the new engine in the dyno room and put the primary focus more on set-up during the tests and then toss the new engine in once they are satisfied with the set-up results.

Looking like a good year ahead for us onlookers. Don't forget the first race is in the dark 23:00 hrs. Should be interesting.

Thanks Feej !

I always appreciate your updates as I dont have cable, or a computer actually. I really appreciate the clicky thangs you do.

This year should really be exciting as compared to last, lots of new setups and rider changes/additions including your man, young Mr Toesland. And a night race to get it all started ! A local English Pub actually accomodates me during racing season, so I'll be there in proper spirits too !

I really hope the other manufacturers can get past Ducatis wake, but I think that Casey Stoner is no accident either, the boy can ride! Just a little over a month and we can be actively bench racin' again...its been too bloody long ! If you're ever in the Alamo City, I'd love to treat you to a pint...it'd be cold though ! Stay well and thanks again for the updates.

Blessings,

Bobby

I agree. I hope they can get it together and make a good year out of it. It was disappointing to have Honda publicly admit they were building the 07 bike to suit Pedrosa, when Nicky brought them a title in spite of Pedrosa and Honda.

I really appreciate his updates also. It's nice to have others that follow racing as much. he has an advantage being 8+ hours ahead of me, so he usually sees the press releases before I do. Saves me a lot of searching for information.
