I just got back from walking my dog and I found some guys Palm Treo cell phone/PDA in the woods. Since the battery was dead, I first had to go and buy a charger from Rat Shack for 30 bucks so I could figure out who's phone it was. I figured I would just make him pay me back when he picked up the phone. I charged it, figured out what his home phone number was and called him. His wife says, "oh, he already went out and bought another one". O.K......what am I supposed to do with this one? "I guess you can either keep it or throw it away" was her answer. Just before she got off the phone with me she asked "oh by the way, where did you find it?" I was so ******* tempted to tell her at some sleazy ***** bar or massage parlor but I excercised restraint.

Its probably a 300 dollar phone that looks like it is about a month old, has all his contacts in it, pictures and videos of his kid and wife, etc....Wouldn't you want it back? When I think of what a pain in the *** it is putting all my contacts back into a phone every time I got a new one, you would think he would rush over here and get it. It must be nice to have disposable income.....

I'm going to assume the guy is going to come home and scream at his wife for telling me to throw it out so I'll wait a day or two before I do anything with it. If someone on here has any use for a nice phone (Verizon if it matters) and brand new charger let me know.....Hmmmmm, I wonder who Crystal is?

You probably know they sell these things 2 ways...Locked into a single carrier when purchased on a promotion or bought sans carrier contract and usable with different carriers (unlocked). If its the second you might be able to put your own subscriber card into it and have a nice phone. They are not cheap.

I wouldn't dispose of the phone unless I spoke with the guy who owned it. His wife might not have any clue how much info he had on that thing. He deserves right of first refusal - first hand.

If you do speak with him and he doesn't want it any more, let me know. I use Verizon, and I might not mind a gadget like that.

If he was savvy, the software on his computer had all his info backed up--hook up the new phone, and all data restored.

The EMEI is probably recorded as lost or stolen, not much good to anyone at this point.

If you decide to get off that phone for the price of a charger, the cost to ship and your time..., I would be interested.

Yup, unfortunately the phone is probably worthless right now. Verizon probably has it tagged as stolen and won't activate it on their network anymore. If you could get them to call Verizon and clear the 'lost/stolen' tag on the phone, I'd be willing to pay you for the charger and your time.

If it's a Verizon 700p I'll take it :) Could use a spare I'm rather hard on them.

If that's what it is and you want your money back then some let me know.

Edit: I see I'm not first in line :) the 650's have been End of life'd though they'll run through the production they have.

If nobody else steps up you know where I am.

UPDATE....

I guess "Throw it away" wasn't an option. He called last night in a panic and told me not to throw it out. I'm sure there was no lovin in that household last night.

Unfortunately the videos and pics on the phone were all G rated because Mrs. Cellphone was near model material.

Thanks for having character and doing the right thing. There are many in this world who wouldn't have gone to the trouble or would have taken another avenue with someone else's lost property.

Youse is okay! :clapping:

That's only cuz the vids were "G" rated. Better videos may have had an impact on his character. :D

That was a good deed.

I have a palm 650 for use on Verizons network, that i no longer use if someone is interested.

Actually a man of the highest character probably wouldn't have checked out all the videos...
That's got to put you up there on the getting good karma list :good: .....

I probably would have just turned it in at a Verizon store. I wouldn't have bought the charger. Good Karma to you. TJ
