Hey anybody know why I can't get a neutral light when It's in neutral?? And no wise guys, It ain't the bulb... first on the say it is gonna get their pee pee smacked

It's been an intermittent problem for several weeks, now It's completely stopped working... a real pain in the *** when you want to let it warm up while ya wait someplace dry :(

Oh I did use the tried and true google search.. Spent a couple hours farting around, but I didn't see anything related to this malady

:jester:

Does the starter work on a press of the button (neutral light off) when the bike is in neutral and the sidestand is down?

Bad neutral switch? Corroded connection to said switch?

How do you know it isn't the light bulb?

Erm....did you check the connections at the switch on the back of the engine case?

If the neutral switch in the tranny is bad, you won't be able to start it unless you grab the clutch and put the sidestand up, even if it is in neutral. If the tranny doesn't say neutral, the start interlock relay will look for the clutch being squeezed and sidestand up before it allows the starter to run, because it thinks it's in gear.

Once running, find neutral and drop the sidestand. If it stops, then you've got problems with the neutral switch, or its connector. It's supposed to ignore the sidestand switch when in neutral, but if it doesn't know it's in neutral, the sidestand switch rules.

The neutral switch is a ground. The lamp gets battery from, of all places, the windshield drive unit. Of course that's impossible to get to without removing all the plastic!!!

I was also going to say switch, but I also know from you, that maybe you really needed help in knowing how to shift.
