If anyone out there is interested, how about:

- Day Ride - meet, greet, ride

- Saturday 14 April with a bump plan for Saturday 21 April

- Meet in Warrenton, Culpepper, Fredericksburg, or Charlottesville - when you add a reply pick a city

Jim, April 14 sounds good to me. I'd say lets meet in Charlottesville as that would be closer for those coming from the south.

Hehehehe... that'd probably me coming from the south. Thanks for suggesting that Gary. My ass really appreciates it.

Jockied some stuff around, so as of today, this very second, April 14 looks good to me. Only challenge might be a housing closing...but that's nothing definite. Charlotesville is good. I'd almost recommend Culpepper for those who dont know the area. Charlotesville is larger, and one might get lost in that town. But, one might get lost looking for Culpepper...LOL...either is fine for me.

luv2ride..thanks for responding. THe closest Ive gotten to Richmond is 295/64. Havent ridden into the city itself. I've only been riding for 30+ years...dont think I have the experience to tackle Richmond just yet...LOL

Also, I hope I will be welcome on the wildebeest (V Max)...FJR isnt due until May.

And JimLor....maybe we could meet on the way, say Fred or Falmouth, and ride out together?

hey folks;

Not sure how this one's gonna play out for me yet... I've got two potential conflicts. I agreed to help a friend sometime in April (somewhere in the "teens" she said -- waiting to hear back on the date) and the 14th is Mortons Spring Open House which my partner and better half may be expecting me to attend. So, if I can bend the wind in my favor maybe the stars will align and I'll get to do this ride. I sure would like to. If not, my string of jinxed events grows by one more. :( Must be a gift I tell ya!

Thanks for the good thoughts Jim...

haven't been in hiding on purpose,

hope to remedy that soon.

best regards

patrick

I think that I'm clear that weekend. I'm probably in. Charlottesville or Waynesboro would be my choices for meet & greet.... but Waynesboro isn't on the list of meet places... so I guess Charlottesville wins by default. Culpeper, where's that? Ohhh, (looking at a map) I see it. That'd be quite a bit further than Charlottesville... like 50+ miles further... so, my vote still goes f/ Charlottesville.

And rice... some of Richmond is beautiful. THere's a lot of history there. THere is also a lot of crime in certain areas. Believe me, you've got plenty enough years under your belt to tackle it. You've got over 4x as much riding time as me. I've been on 2 wheels for about 7 years.

And, of course we don't mind you riding you VMax... especially if you don't mind the smell of my exhaust... BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Nahhh, not really. Couldn't resist making a joke about a cruiser. Loud Pipes Get Passed, you know.

Oh crap, there I go again... sorry... Ahemmm... of course any & all makes, colors, whatever are welcome. We are equal opportunity passers. But I hear those Vmax's aren't slouches where the power is concerned.

OK then...I'm good for Charlottesville. Maybe jumping the gun a bit...if it is Charlottesville, need time and place to meet. Sorry, I cant be much help here.

luv2ride..V Max, a cruiser? Hmmm. DOnt often here it called quite that? I prefer to think of it as the original muscle bike, and in '85, that is exactly what the beast was. Too bad times have left the model in the dust. IF they ever do produce a bike like the concept that's been shown around, I might be facing a divorce...I would definitely make room for it in my garage!

As for Richmond, I know about the history, and have been fortunate enough to have avoided the crime! I do pass thru it often in my cager, and as I recall, the western end is a happening place. Actually, nothing wrong with Richmond, just big, busy, and not entirely safe for a motorcycle...just my unedumicated opinion.

I'm starting to get excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yahoo:

I stand corrected... the Vmax is a muscle bike. Does it have loud pipes??? It can still be passed... especially in a 15 mph switchback. Oh crap, did I just say that out loud?!?!?!?

ANYHOW, you do know that I am "completely" messin' with you, right? My skills are of the very mediocre variety.

Cannot wait to see some people that I haven't seen in awhile & it'll be great to meet you new folks.

Off topic: Riceman, what is your real name?

First, I want to apologize to others reading this thread, and having to endure the discussion about my wildebeest. But, while on the beest...it's been called a muscle bike...but fits the cruiser mold. Good nuff? No.... it has stock pipes, and is only loud to the hearing impaired. As for "switchbacks", the owners maunal recommends a hoist, cable, and about 30 minutes....I guess that doesnt meet the "15 mph" standard? And, I dont mind too much peoplz "messin with" me, as long as I can mess back a little..... :D

Unfortunately, I didnt see my "real name" of the list of approved names  . So, I guess "Gary" will be the death of me. And it was so much fun being "Riceman"...I felt....well....welcomed. Even the wildebeest was starting to think of this forum as "home" :(

And with a shot from the blue I'm out - something we had scheduled for the 28th magically moved itself to the 14th so I won't make this trip. Maybe next time.

So, like uhhhh Gary, you gonna' pick this up? Where do we meet, etc?

That is a bummer, Jim.

I'm not at all familiar w/ Charlottesville... or I'd call a spot for meeting. Maybe a major intersection right off of 64?? The first gas station you come to???

Is anyone familiar w/ Charlottesville?

I'm somewhat familiar with Charlottsville. I've ridden through there enough times. I'll see about picking a meeting spot.

Do we want to meet someplace where we can grab a bite of breakfast? I know there is a Golden Corral right on Rt. 29.

breakfast, brunch, lunch? I should be good for any and all! AS I recall, 29 crosses 64. Corral near there?

The Golden Corral is at 1185 Seminole Trail which is Rt. 29 about 1 mile north of the Rt. 250 Bypass. Its right next to a Browns Used Car center.

Golden Corral

If that location sounds OK, I'd say lets meet around 10:00 am

Ya'll ain't gonna' cut the person who's 200 miles away any slack, now are ya? 10:00 might be just a tad too early for me... unless I'm leaving out of here at the crack of dawn. How about Golden Corral at noon for lunch?

OK...so as I understand it, we're meeting at the Golden Corral in Charlottesville, RT 29, at noon (or there abouts) on April 14th? Meet, eat, and scoot. Sounds like a plan to me.

If no one has any better ideas, as I recall, if we head N on 29 from there, I think we hit 50, which is a nice ride thru some horse country. Just a thought...I'm just happy to maybe be able to meet some new peoplez!!! :yahoo:

OK...so who's coming?

Sorry....I'm a "no-body", and here I am charging away. I hope I havent stepped on any toes!!
