There is a good looking '07 on ebay. Seller says it does not have ABS. I PM'ed seller and asked about his claim of no ABS, and he says his dealer said it was an option that year. Here is sellers response:

" Thanks for the compliment. Bike was not special ordered. From what I was told at the Yamaha dealer, ABS was an option on the 2007 FJR's and bikes with ABS would have ABS at the end of the VIN number and say ABS on the brake caliper. This bike has neither. Thanks for your interest and questions."

According to Iggy's fact sheet in the FNG area, and everything I have heard, ABS is standard on all US Gen IIs.

Here is the fleaybay item number (hope I am not violating forum rules) 220482312975

There are many pictures, but I can not tell if there is a ABS ring on the front wheel.

Any thoughts???

If the bike was bought stock and remained stock, it has ABS. ABS was standard on all FJR's (not an option) starting with the 2006 models.

GUNNY, 2005 was the last year where ABS was optional.

A comparison of the different years can be found here.

The dealer was an idiot and the seller is clueless - he should read the owner's manual.

How much did he save by buying the non-ABS version, anyway?

In his description under chassis

ChassisSuspension/Front: 48mm Soqi telescopic fork w/adjustable preload, compression and rebound damping; 5.4" travel

Suspension/Rear: Single shock, link-type, w/adjustable preload and rebound damping; 4.8" travel

Brakes/Front: Dual 320mm discs w/4-piston calipers

Brakes/Rear: 282mm disc, CBS ABS standard

Tires/Front: 120/70-ZR17 radial

Tires/Rear: 180/55-ZR17 radial
It appears he doesn't realize what's standard on the bike he ownes.

Great looking bike - if the one for sale is really the one in the pix, it's ABS and drop dead beautiful.

Dear radiohowie,

Apparently you didn't read my response thoroughly. It would be the Yamaha dealer that would be incorrect, because that is what they told me. Also, if it's true what you say, that all FJR1300s since 2006 have antilock brakes as standard equipment, then why are Yamaha dealerships listing brand new FJR1300s on eBay as without ABS? That doesn't match what you say is true. I'll do a little more investigating on this matter.
Then,

Dear radiohowie,

Thanks for your previous email concerning the 2007 FJR1300 brakes. I was just going my what my local Yamaha dealership told me about the brake system. I checked into it a little more by calling other dealerships and found out that you are correct about ABS being standard on the newer FJR's. Thanks for being so attentive and bringing this to my attention. That just goes to show you that even people who sell and work at Yamaha dealerships don't know everything about what they sell. Thanks again for pointing this out. I'll go in and update the auction description.

The only question I have is ........can someone find out what the name of the dealer was that said the bike was not ABS equipped so I can make a point in avoiding them?

KM

+1 on the ABS. That bike is almost identical to my baby which I just got a few weeks ago, including the mileage. Except that I have a Givi trunk. Might be worth your interest.

If you've got the funds, I'd say snag that beast. I love my '07 and that one is truly beautiful. Besides, maroon is the fastest color. :)

The dealer may not have known much about motorcycles but I bet he was an expert on interest rates.
