It's been a week now, but I finally found time to do this RR.
Part 1:
Went on a short ride in NorCal and Reno NV area. Hoping to run into Old Michael. I thought if I don’t say anything and just show, I’ll find him somewhere riding around. I guess we were on different roads.
Spent a week putting around and enjoying the best weather ever! It was nice and cool at elevation. Riding form Reno to Lake Almanor the long way, it was bloody hot Oroville (100º+)! Got out of there quick after eating at a local pizza establishment, cooled down perfect at higher elevations. The sites on this ride were priceless and so incredibly awesome! So much snow left and water it’s unreal!!!
We worked hard at my friend’s mother’s house on Lake Almanor and on one of the little rides to Eagle Lake my friends Suzuki TL1000 took a dump, again. Did it last year too. Electrical problems again but slightly different. We stopped at a flagman road work stop, shut down the bikes, shot the breeze with the guy, then my friend went to fire up his bike and had zero electrical. We finally figured it out it was his main relay, did a McGyver repair with a twig to keep pressure on the connector to keep it in contact, and went back home to really diagnose the issue. Somehow the connector heated up, partially melted the connector, the one contact was not make good contact. We bent the pin to have better contact, no more issues for the rest of the trip. He’ll have to get a new connector now.
Saw a few FJR sightings no response. One guy riding two-up on Thursday, June 23rd was on a 2010 I believe was riding with us from just before Quincy to Sierraville. He let us pass then kept up with us. He either saw my RADAR detector, or just figured with me up front, I’d get the ticket.
Sighting clicky.
Clicky2.
Also went to the 16th Annual BBQ, Brews, and Blues Festival in downtown Reno. The ElDorado Casino and Brewery (Brews Brother’s), sponsored the event. They closed down Virginia Street from 3rd to 5th, excellent beers, way too much though, oh man. Way fun though, excellent local blues talent there. Found a new Porter I love, Knee Deep’s (Reno/Sparks, NV) Porter, excellent!
Enjoy the pix.
Snow on the Sierra’s near June Mountain on 395.
Hwy 395, Walker River is raging!
Riding thru Penn Valley (Hwy20) went back in time and was attacked by prehistoric animals, like this Triceratops.
More fun stuff in this guy’s Penn Valley yard. I think whoever it is, is quite creative.
One of the many water falls flowing into the Feather River on Hwy70.
Beautiful bridges. Car bridge low, train bridge high.
The Feather River at Hwy89/70 Junction.
Same Feather River Junction at Hwy89/70, different perspective. Looking South on 89. The car bridge in the distance goes to Quincy, CA.
