Wow, this is looking like another RIDE to EAT RIDE. I can make this a regular habit.

What we need now is some more company. Why doncha get the dust off those scoots, put some fresh gas in, and let's go RIDING?

I just sent this ride out to the GA FJR riders list which includes some not on the forum. Look forward to riding with you guys Saturday.

That looks like the gas station stop near Tellico Plains. They also do some mean tater wedges.

You guys would pick a weekend when I can't ditch the kids and come play.

:(

Damnit, wife's company has their employee appreciation party that day. You guy's enjoy. I'll have to dress up and uncomfortable all night.

Also, I've heard through the grapevine that Dales hasn't had fuel for about a week and may not be getting any more as there is a good chance he's going out of business. Folks from other forums I'm on went up this weekend to try and help support him, but I don't know what the whole deal is. However, they said he didn't have any fuel this weekend.

So, you might want to give him a call to find out for sure, but definitly don't plan on him as a fuel stop untill you know for sure.

I can't tell from your map but after 60 in GA do you then go 64/74 along the Ocoee river? I've done this ride many times including Sat. I was shown by fellow forum member trimmamtom. From GA its the best way to get to Tellico, twisty roads, rivers etc.

It includes routes 30, 315 39.

I'd be happy to lead if needed. If not I'm happy to join the parade.

The ride I did Sat. takes the long way from Tellico Plains to the back side of Deals gap. There was nobody riding the Gap Sat and just 4 bikes stopped there while I took a break. I then rode 28 to Franklin. Logging 350 miles for the day and back home in Winder at 3pm. Leaving at 5am allows for lots of little breaks.

I plan to be there Sat. if I can arrange it. Right now looks like chance of rain.

Steve,

60 turns into Hwy68 in Tennessee and goes up into Tellico, then 315 back over to Ocoee river and back down to Blue Ridge Ga. If you would lead I'll ride sweep.

Here is a quote from Georgia Sportbike forum concerning gas at Dale's.

"they dont officially have gas.

they do have some 93 "for emergency only" just dont rely on it and say it is an "emergency". i was almost out and did buy some from him on Saturday.

FYI..there is gas just north of there in the left hand curve(going north) where they sell the bbq sandwiches. i found this out later."

That will be a shame if Dales closes up for good. I'm sure it's a tough area to run a business. Especially in the winter months.

I'd be happy to lead. You'll love the ride, its much better than 68.

How is the riding up there this time of year. I live in Central Florida and dont have much in the way of warm gear or a spell check LOL How warm would you need to dress to ride the proposed route?? :assassin:

As of right now the forecast is for a low of 42 on Saturday morning and a high of 60. When you get into some of the higher elevations it will be pretty cool but not bad. If you get cold your not riding hard enough! :p

So, if I could make it to Asheville on Friday............................

Believe me I would like nothing more than to join you guy's for some fried pies on Saturday.

Unfortunately I doubt to snow in NE Ohio or mountains of WV will let me escape this early in the year, but a guy can dream.

Be sure & post a ride report so I can hate you even more. :cold:

If I only had a bike... :angry2: (They tell me mid March for my repairs)

That was street legal.

I am tempted to hook up a fog light for a head light and wire a trailer light to the gixxer for a brake light. But then that no kickstand comes to play. Toten a stand around may be an issue on a long day :(

Plenty of trees in North Georgia! ;)
