His new 961 was just profiled in Cycle World, sounded like production was a certainty. Seemed like a decent machine.

I'm breathin' a sigh of relief. A good friend of mine decided he wanted one a couple of months ago and called Mr. Dreer for some assistance answering a few simple questions.

To make a long story short, he got no satisfaction or reassurance sfter his conversation with "Norton" and he wisely spent his money elseware. Too bad, they looked like really nice bikes. Wonder who'll be the the next to try and resurrect the once great marque?

I wouldn't count him out yet. Awful lot of time and money has gone into development, too much for it to be simply dropped now. Funding will appear, I'm sure of it.

Perhaps they can hook up with the former owners of Indian and Excelsior Henderson...

:D

Thats a shame, looks like it was the real deal. Would be good to have a US made choice beside the other two cruiser companies.

Bill

Maybe Kenny can take some consolation from the folks who have been trying to resurrect the Vincent for several years and getting nowhere, so far. Barney Li has a lot of money, too -or had, and I'm still waiting... :(

That is a surprise to hear...as I recall in one article he already had 22, 26? of the bikes sold (prepaid) just based on his prototype; maybe he just needs to implement a PDP program to stimulate sales...hmmm...yeah, that's the ticket.. <_<

in the article he also spoke of getting numerous phone calls from ex-Indian employees seeking a job. His observation was that those people were all head of some dept, getting major bucks for their position and how he (his company) would never be that way because he runs his company so lean...I read recently that yet another organization is trying to purchase the Indian name for (yet another) go at it. I wouldn't expect the venture capitalists to lining up for that again.

I won't mourn yet another passing of Norton. I will, however, cry if this puppy doesn't make it to market...

I hope you're right, but don't hold your breath. It's the curse of owning the name "Norton".

Out of tears for Norton? Either you were stranded by the Prince or you were resurrected from one who was.

I liked Dreer's Norton better, mostly because of the proprietary motor. The Vincent looks cool, but it's a Honda in disguise. Each to their own.

Yikes, sorry but me thinks that Vinny is fugly...looks all out of wack, wierd proportions, like it is hard on the brakes while sitting still..or just smacked a wall...

nor does it invoke the image of a Vincent in my eye, .....

For me the Dreer bikes are eye candy, nice lines, quality materials with a hand crafted look to them. I would like to have one in the stable.

GAPs proves again the old cliche about where beauty lies...

Nostalgia is sweet, but this is a modern bike with just a hint of nostalgia.

At 20 grand, I'll take the HRC (Honda Research & Co) engine in that nice tubular

frame... :p

Vin, sorry, the Honvin just aint getting it done for me. Im sure the Honda can outperform the Dreer but people will not be buying these bikes for outright performance. When HRC releases a street going RC211 I will put a Vincent sticker on mine, that works better for me.

I would want the Dreer to ogle, fondle and rub wax on, then ride it like the classy old ***** it represents, cuz its pretty.

Yeah, but have you seen the CF bodied prototype in the er, CF? I have. It's drop dead gorgeous and with the Honda power, drop dead reliable.

And talk about outta proportion... Check out those lame-*** rear 'spenders hanging out in the wind on that Norton... Blech, Patooi! :bad:
