One of my coworkers just missed witnessing an accident on his way to work and was the first EMS person to arrive at the scene. He (Matt) stopped at the market on his way to work and while he was paying, a sport bike went by at warp speed. When Matt turned onto the road heading out, he saw a header of smoke coming up ahead on the road. The bike was passing cars at an estimated +125mph when a pickup initiated a U-turn into his path. No skid marks, just pure impact. The bike was in three pieces, burning and the fuel tank BLEVE'd (Pronounced Blevvy - Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion) just after Matt arrived. He started CPR but the rider was obviously DRT (Dead Right There, local fire service 'technical' jargon). The full-face helmet had a broken chin bar, but did a good enough job to allow his friends & family to have a future viewing. Let's be intelligent & careful out there!

Natural selection.................

How did the occupants of the pick-up fare? Hope they are alright.

In EMS down here, we call idiots like that 'job security'. Hopefully the people he hit survived without major injury.
