While I am still not 100% convinced that a manufacturer's extended warranty couldn't be purchased from out of state in Florida, there is absolutely nothing that prevents a dealer from discounting the YES. he can't sell ABOVE the MSRP, but he IS allowed to discount.

Time to lodge a complaint with the Ombudsman about the fact that a restrictive rule seems to have cost you a bunch of greenbacks because of this restriction on competition.

Alternative: Head north to Georgia and plate your bike there for a day. Buy the YES, then ride home and replate in Florida.

I wouldn't buy it. Reading on this forum you soon come to realize there are almost no mechanical problems on this bike. Sure there are a few, but very very few. Your odds of having one are super slim.

Reading on a forum you can get the sense that there are mechanical issues due to the reports in threads. But that can be misleading. What you don't always hear about are the thousands of trouble free miles that are riden. We don't post much about all the good.

I bought a F350 Diesel and THEN found a website about that truck. Hundreds of posts about nothing but bad transmissions, turbo's, wheel bearings, etc. I was sick thinking I just paid big bucks for a piece of junk. What I failed to think of is there are literally millions of those trucks doing just fine, mine included. I did not find many post about that.

When I was thinking of the buying the FJR, and being a little smarter from the F350 episode, I read up on the web and thought, "this bike is perfect." No problems at all basically.

So, no warranty for me at any price. But that's just me.

YMMV

However, if they had a scratch warranty I might consider that.

+1 ---> "I wouldn't buy it. Reading on this forum you soon come to realize there are almost no mechanical problems on this bike. Sure there are a few, but very very few. Your odds of having one are super slim."
