It never ceases to amaze me how crowded these shows can get. The show was held at the Javits Center where the boat show is about to kick off so the first thing you see when you walked in was this DEC patrol boat powered by a pair of Honda engines.

Ducati, not only didn't have any smoking babes for your viewing pleasure but they decided to enclose their displays in a "room" that fit maybe 50 people so of course the 100 people that did manage to sandwich themselves in couldn't even look at the bikes. Stupid move IMHO.

Once again Triumph wasn't there.

Not a whole lot of action around the Yamaha display and very few people looking at the FJR. Completely different than last year when you couldn't get close to them.

Over at the Kawi display the salesman was trying to explain to a guy wearing a BMW belt buckle that he could have the Concourse completely stripped and painted black if he wanted a black bike. Of course I interjected that all he would have to do was buy a black 2008 FJR and he would have a better bike AND the color he wanted. Amazingly they both gave me an "eat-a-bag-o-****" look....No accounting for taste I guess.

I learned that you can never allow your girlfriend to hold the camera when you are getting custom earbuds made at the Big Ear booth.

I also found a yellow Harley Davidson that I liked, a V-Strom, an R-1, a KTM adventure, and a BMW F800GS.

Axe,

I went to the show on Friday. It's changing every year, and possibly getting worse.

The funniest incident this year was when I was checking out the KTM, and they were about to start the Icon 'fashion show' nearby. There was a bikini top clad Asian girl warming up the crowd before the show. She was flirting with every guy, bouncing around, etc... By the time the show started, there were 100+ guys with testosterone amped up. When the show began, the crowd suddenly came to realize that she was the only female in the fashion show, and I guess the metrosexual Icon male models didn't do the trick. There was nearly a revolt! All the married guys were used to this of course.

The KTM Adventure is my latest case of bike envy. I've decided it's the perfect stablemate for my FJR.

Went to the show Saturday. I was surprised that the FJR was just sitting there with no crowd. Like Axeman said, this wasn't the case last year. Did you notice all the non-bike fluff at the show? Jewelry cleaners, wallets?, real estate...

How about this?
