Bought a 2003 fjr last winter and put it in my garage. Odometer read 45k. Hooked it up to a Battery Tender Jr. Took it out a couple of days ago and odometer now reads 72k. Also, trip odometer cannot be reset. Nobody rode the bike during the winter. Any thoughts?

It looks as somehow the odometer went from miles to kilometers. With the ignition on (engine on or off; doesn't matter) push and hold the select button down for two seconds (it should change back to miles)

Yeah, somehow your values changed from miles to kilometers. .62 x 72=44.6, or close to 45k.

You're absolutely right! The kilos/miles math works perfectly! Thank you. I feel like an idiot for not thinking of it. I was ready to blame it on the Battery Tender. No kids, by the way. I realized early on that I could either raise kids or I could ride motorcycles. Easy call. But don't let anybody every tell you that a vasectomy is painless.

Don't feel bad, liljohn. I recall riding one day and being simply amazed at the apparently astronomical gas mileage I was getting, based on mileage readings relative to fuel gauge. Of course it turned out I was calculating kilometers per gallon. Doh!

 Actually liljohn, you bike is trying to tell you to convert to metric with the rest of the world!....just sayin'....:nhl_checking:
