To be brief, what years (besides 2006-2012) will an OEM shock "drop right in" to my 2008? I've got a line on a free 2014 rear shock with only 50 miles on it. I'm still a little confused as to which years shocks are interchangeable.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help.

All interchangeable. You will like the improvements of the GenIII shock!!
Yes, Ray is correct on both counts. The Gen3 ('13 thru '15) shock has a stronger spring and better damping than the Gen2 ('06 thru '12) shock. We put a brand new Gen3 rear shock on Dad's '07 and it made a huge difference.

as say by Aryzerman, they are all the same dimentions. from Gen I to gen III (exepte of course electric suspension).

And they becam better and better with generation
