Sorry Gregory for the misconception, but maybe you should go to New Mexico with TonyDucks and take ShinyPU with you and Don will supply the Tequila to keep everyone warm! But by his own admission, don't share a tent with Don or SkooterG. Put Don & Skooter in the same tent, but keep your distance in case of a methane leak  because we all know now what Skooter considers music to his ears.

You guys are hilarious!! :yahoo:

If I go with Don and or SkooterG I'll end up with whatever the hell it was that Bustanut had!

Tonyducks,

I live in Deming which is 60mi west of Las Cruces. Dec and Jan are very cold. The elevation in Demig is about 4300ft and Las Cruces isn't much lower. Night time temps will be in the low to mid 20s every night and maybe the teens. Daytime could be 50, but could be upper 30s too. If you wait until March, it is warm enough but very windy.

If you do decide to come this way I can give you more info and a route to "Stay South". Quickly, Tucson, Sonoita, Sierra Vista, Tombstone, Bisbe, Douglas, Rodeo, Animas, Columbus, Santa Teresa then north to Las Cruces.

Depending what is going on and when, maybe I could ride part of the last leg.

So any word from Tonyducks anywhere? I guess I hadn't paid attention to the dates he posted earlier, but I live here and I wouldn't go camping on my MC from November-February. I have the gear for the cold, but all the good roads around here are mountainous and have a tendency to be covered with snow, ice, or sand; none of which are good to encounter in the middle of a fast sweeper. Also, as stated before, even if the day is nice, which is totally possible; the nights will be colder than a witch's ***.

FYI, I rode with my brother from Taos to Chama through Hopewell Pass a couple of Mays ago. In May, there was still 7-8 feet of snow still packed along the sides of the roads up there. That being said, May-October would all be great times to come. Not too hot and normally not too cold. Rain is on and off, but not normally for more than a day. As stated above, when you come, lemme know. I can always use a few days off work, and I know most of the state pretty well as well has having contacts all over.
