Off season rides?

I have not been on my skis since getting my knee replaced for various reasons but I'm hoping to get back on the boards at the local ski bump (really can't in all good conscience call it a hill). Also do a little skating and pickup hockey at the local rink.

Snow shoe.

This winter I may add cross-country skiing.

Probably drink too much.

I have a season pass at 7 Springs, so can probably score some discounts if anyone wants to go. Other hills in this region like Blue Knob and Snowshoe are pretty good, but doggone it, I miss Tahoe.

Hey Joe! Do you play dodge-em at Boston Mills?

I hibernate in the basement with gas logs and bourbon, only occasionally coming out for solid food. It's gotten to the point that I really, really ache from the cold damp we have here.

Really the winter is when I do the maintenance I want on the bike and indoor projects around the house- painting and such. I wasn't kidding about the joint pain tho, it's getting bad. After a half hour at 40*F I'm hurtin' so much I can barely get my left foot off the peg and onto the ground.

Off season?

Last winter we had record cold and snow. On top of that, the city ran out of salt and money to pay overtime to the road crews, so my neighborhood went mostly un-plowed. After a month of staring at my unusually static FJR, I just couldn't take it and yanked the 250 out of the shed and through the 6' drift in the back yard. The neighbors probably thought I lost my mind (they were mostly right) but at least I was on two wheels again. Maybe this year I'll get some tire studs.

Otherwise, maintenance is my winter hobby.

I like skiing also, but I'm not very good at it. My son started snowboarding last year and is getting pretty good.

Tom, I put both kids through the Boston Mills ski school (mogul mites through junior program)...so we did ski there every Sunday morning (during ski season) for about eight years. Last time we were at Blue Knob, was the day after an ice storm...made things pretty interesting. Never been to Seven Springs...heard it's pretty nice, when they have snow. Have not had the ski's on in several years, but the wife has been talking about getting back on the slopes this year. Western NY is a good day/weekend trip.

Things I enjoy are my '06 Yamaha RS Venture two-up with my kids, we have miles and miles of groomed trails, I've been told we can go from my home in Queensbury, NY to Maine and also up into Canada. I don't know how true it is though, I haven't tried it yet. I like watching the Jersey pukes speeding past me going to Killington, VT then go by them standing on the side of the road wondering why their car is parked in a snow bank. Now that's fun! I also like to ski and go sledding with my boys and girlfriend.

Snow shovel on the drive, then wait until the ice is off the road. Worst "off season" was about three weeks long. Spent most of the time staring out of the window waiting for it to melt, or sat on the bike in the garage making "Vroom, vroom" noises.
