Hi to all

I was out on the bike on the weekend playing around with the compression/rebound and was wondering how often the shock should be overhauled.I think i read somewhere that Ohlins recommend every 7000kms but thats getting a bit ridiculous. What do you think??

I think I was told every 15,000 miles, but I did mine at 30,000 miles (2 years). It was definitely due. At that mileage the dampening would go away as it got hot. I had to keep adjusting it every hour.

I've seen manufacturers specify in the 15,000 - 25,000 miles range for a rebuild.

Pfffft! :finger:

My last Wilbers rebuild had 190,000 miles total on the shock, and 125,000 miles since the previous rebuild. The guy rebuilding it said he had never seen one so dirty and worn. He had to replace some parts he normally doesn't. He told me ideally I would get it rebuilt every 30,000 miles, but knew I wouldn't do that so he made me promise to have it done every 50,000 miles. :) Which reminds me, I'm only about 1,000 miles away from it being due for a rebuild again. :(

I went 50,000 km and it was well overdue. They told me that they were going to charge me extra because the oil smelled so bad when they opened it, it stunk the shop up.
