I read on the forum about various automotive oil filters that fit the FJR and have been using them. I discovered today that the filter for my Honda Accord (also most other models ecept the S2000) fits fine. I buy them 10 at a time from Manchester Honda.com for about $45. They're even blue

Hmmm. Something tells me fit and performance are two different things. I'm no oil filter expert but I'd be leary of a cars filter Vs a motorcycle. How well does the oil flow, pressure and volume, etc.

Interested to hear from others on this.

Old story. do a search for filters. i am sure that the flow characteristics has been discussed.

I was just doing oil filter pricing today. Been using the Parts Unlimited filter at $8.95 each, but today I found the Yami filters online at $8.15 each. Go figure!

Blue filters were much easier to find and WAY cheaper than black ones. Can't believe I'm paying double the price just to keep black filters on the 07.

:(

the fj ('84 to '93) came with a cartridge filter. most of us fj owners hate having to do a filter change with it. the legends guys* have an oil filter adapter that many fj owners now own, that allows us to use a spin-on oil filter from, coincidentally, most honda cars built since 1925 or so. ( : altho i've never spoken with any legends dudes, i'd tend to believe they wouldn't put a filter in their "car" they didn't trust to work with the fj engine.

*legends racers take engines from yamaha fj11/1200 motorcycles and put them in their cars and race them. we fj owners don't particularly care for them grabbing up our fj motorcycles and stripping them out, but at least we know there are replacement parts out there due to the legends guys.

Supertech filters at Wal-mart #ST7317 , $2.48 , and they are black.
Thanks, Gawd I hate WalMart!

Since that's where I have to buy Rotella-T Synthetic in gallons, might as well start looking for filters too. Did I say I hate WalMart??? Just in case...

I hate WalMart!

:)

Purolator PURE ONE.

Same P/N for the FJR as my 98 Maxima. Blue to match the fast colored bikes.

Advance Auto Parts, $4.95

Yebbut yew er soo-porten 'em cuz yewer shoppin ther.

Honda (auto dealers) sell or use 2 different filters. Except S2000.

Read the small print on filter. (1) made by Honeywell. It's a FRAM with silicone anti drain valve. (2) Made by FILTERTECH.

Filtertech is a better filter IN my opinion. I use the Filtertech ones.

FYI.

yep and that's the same one that the Accord calls for. No worries about what FJRBluesman was talking about. Same filter for both the car and bike. It sure made my shopping easy back in the day when I had an Accord.

Mobil1 M1-110 filters are black, and the Mobil1 label makes it faster than blue ones. :drag:

(also clears highway pegs)

I think you might be suprised after investigation, just how many part numbers are the same. Don't think Yamaha (or the others) designs a new oil filter for every bike they make.

purolator pure one in blue matches my 05
Wouldn't ya know it....they changed color, now I have an ugly yeller filter thats knobbly textured for a couple months...course anything to detract from my ugly *** cant be all bad  .

I'll start looking for another blue one soon.

Its all good,

Bobby
