I need to buy new oil filters for my 05 FJR. Can anyone suggest a good source or give me a link where they are reasonably priced? I usually buy several filters at a time.

After seeing the price of an oil filter at a local dealer, I balked. Even on Ebay they're like $16, and that's if you buy many. But before starting a new thread, I searched, and found some good info. Go to the 'bin of facts', and you'll find all the info you need (including useful links). Look for 'oil filters'.

The best three, in ascending order were: SuperTech (Walmart), Mobil1, and the best PureOne. Supposedly the SuperTech is comparable to stock, and costs less than $3. I'd have been fine with that one, but after reading some of the articles, I'd probably spring for better filters from now on. I'd like to do that for my cars too, but don't know if that could cause me any grief in case of engine failure, so might use OEM while warranty is in effect. I change my oil every 5K miles (with Mobil1), which is farily conservative, so a better filter might not make much difference. What disturbed me a bit was that stock filters supposedly let particles the size of the oil film thru, which might be too big.

Let's see if you get more debate on the issue, so I can make up my mind for good. The great news about the SuperTech is it's black, just like stock. And the label peels right off. Good day buddy.

I bought a case of 10 yammie filters from someone on the east coast. After shipping the filters were about $9-10 per filter. Give me a few days to find that link and I'll post it.

SuperTech 7317 about $3, Purolator PL14610 about $6, both very good, never an issue with either. But only been using them for 38,000 miles or so. Don't see a need to research any further. Both of these are readily available at national chains.

RonAyers.com has OEM Yamaha ones for $8.65. They charge $9 for shipping, so I bought 5 of them and some V-Strom hand guards too.

Here's the party line from the BMW forums...

The factory engineers probably know what they're doing when it comes to the oil filter. You might save a dollar or two on a Fram, but is it pennywise and pound foolish? Find the best price for OEM filters and buy a batch of them.

But I haven't even done my first oil change on the FJR, wtf do I know? <g>

I took the p/n's from the Bin and did a cross reference for Amsoil Ea filters. Anyone tried them?
Please provide a part number and online source please....and I hope it's not your or a friend's business.

I'm not selling, nor is a friend. I'm an Amsoil 'preferred customer', for what that's worth (discount). Been using Amsoil in my '87 FJ for about 85K miles, but only recently started using their oil filters in our new van.

Got the oil filter numbers from the Bin: Fram PH7317 2.5" and Purolator PL14610 3.25" filters and I x-ref'd them on the Amsoil web-site. They both matched up with the Amsoil EA013 filter, which is listed for $17.30. Not sure what my discounted price would be, yet, probably a few dollars less. I'm probably going to do an order soon for oil and filters, just need to align the budget.

Just got my '06 FJR last month and want to be prepared for an oil change. I commute daily.

That is stunning! Particularly when you can buy a genuine Yamaha oil filter, properly fitting with no guesswork, for $7.95!!!!

Well, if one has the spare cash and elects to support a pyramid scheme like Amsoil, well, have a blast! ;)

Well, I guess if you believe their hype - double the mileage between changes, the cost would work out, on paper at least. Guess on the other end, folks say Fram filters are crap. Being a newb, just exploring the options. Figure the Yam filters are probably the safe bet.
