oil leak

Was wondering if anyone ever noticed oil leaking at the throttle body?mine has oil around the body only on the number 1 cylinder I have bike torn apart right now getting ready to have the tps replaced and valves adjusted.

finding things like oil leaks and rusted coolant pipes above valve cover.

antifreeze is changed every, year this bike is well taken care off cannot believe this pipe is rusted this bad at 27,000 miles. oh well any thoughts on the oil leak??

Corrosion on the water manifold has nothing to do with coolant-it's rusty because water and trash collects in that well over time, and the manifold has only the thinnest of anodized coatings on it. I cleaned and painted mine, would suggest you replace yours, as bad as that looks. The oil leak is most likely from the cam cover, replace the gasket when you do your valve adjust.

Thank you for the coolant pipe info, guess if I would use my brain I would have realized the corrosion was from the outside not the inside.

but the oil leak is not from the cover

its around the rubber,look at the throttle body side of the rubber, the dark black, by the hose clamps is wet with oil it runs all the way down to the 6 o'clock position of throttle body.dunno just dont understand why oil would be comming out of the rubber

Dude! You REALLY need to back up on your shots! This is the third one WAY out of focus.

I had the same problem with my Olympus D220. Back up, get it in focus, and crop the part of the photo you want. With the 1600 res I found 4 feet was way better than 2. It's better to have a longer shot in focus and crop than having a close-up photo and downsizing it.

Sorry guys for the crap pics,try these,and to answer if its a ticker Idont know pulled header and no oil,however service manager at yammy said to load the motor in gear if noise goes away its probably a ticker.havent tried it yet as bike is still torn apart.

will find out its going in to shop this Saturday

Ya know what Qiker, I think all we`re looking at here is the classic combination of fuel remnant and dust...nothing to worry about. But, as long as you mentioned something about a "noise", would you please expand on that! :blink:

That almost looks like an excessive amount of grease-like lubricant was applied to that area. The black wrapped shaft looks sort of like a boot around some shaft....I'm not sure about it, but it doesn't look like a leak to me. The amount of dirt and splooge seems reasonable to me.
