For those who have changed their own oil, has anyone experienced oil coming out the case breather after a change? My level is exactly at the top mark, so its not overfull, and I did change the filter with an OEM jobby. It only happened today after moving the bike in the garage, and the bike hasnt run more than several seconds after the change (to fill the filter).

What 'case breather' are you talking about?

The 'crankcase breather' is effected by a hose connected from a spigot on the engine to a spigot on the air cleaner housing. The only way it would leak is if the hose became disconnected or cracked/damaged. Besides, there should be no oil flowing through this hose anyway - only crankcase vapours.

Please clarify. :dribble:

The only drip I have ever seen on my '05 is an oily spot under the bike that is actually caused by gasoline dripping out the tank vent hose. It looks dirty and oily, probably because the spooge is rinsed out of the hose as the fuel goes through. It happens to me when I have a full tank and park in the sun. This is normal and expected.

i had a leaking seal that made it appear to be leaking from the vent hose.

derek

thanks everyone for the input-- it must be fuel then.

I didnt look terribly close-- i was tipping up the tank, and it is full, so it must just be fuel and gunk-- looks and feels like oil.
