I'm out of town with the family next weekend but we get home on the 10th, so I was thinking of doing a ride from Morro Bay up Highway 1 to Monterey and either back home from there or back down the coast then home from Morro Bay. Anybody interested in making it a group ride? It's on a Sunday, in case it matters.

Why not drop a bit south and hit 41 down to Morrow Bay for lunch then back on 58? Make for a nice day, no?

I'd like to go, but it's our club ride day. And since I'm road captain, my minions would have no one to follow off the cliff...

Well, maybe we'll head up to Monterey, then south on 1 to Morro Bay, then back on 58. Have to take a look at the map on that one. As for those pesky CHP patrols, it wouldn't be much fun if it weren't risky

Sounds like a fun ride, but I think that would have to be a two day ride for us, as we would burn most of a day just getting to Morrow bay. From what I hear all the rooms are booked up around Monterey. Don't know if we can swing another two dayer with WFO 1st part of August.

You'll like 58. The middle is kinda straight, but the ends are bitchin'!

But I think the point is to stay away from Monterey. It's gonna be packed with the race stuff

Carmel Valley road is a great road. Come in on that from the valley and head south when you hit 1, or how about 198 to Nacimiento road through Fort Hunter Leggit. It's a little goaty but worth the experience, dumps you on 1, south of Big Sur.

PS that's where my avatar pic comes from. B)

Yeah, I looked at the map. We'll probably go in on Carmel Valley road. I'm thinking we'll head south to 198, then on to 101 to the G16/Carmel Valley Rd. Sounds like a good adventure! Rogue, where're you coming from. We can adjust and go south to north if necessary, depending on the location(s) of other riders. The route at this time will take us to Morro Bay and back around the 41 to 101 to 58 and maybe 229 back to 41. I'd really rather not end up in Bakersfield afterward.

You are talking about a ride in my backyard again! Monterey is just a hop, a skip, and a jump from here in Los Osos! :)

I will be travelling to the races on Friday, July 9th, to ride some demos and see the vendage. I could re-trace my previous steps on Sunday, July 11th, but the traffic on "the One" is gonna be horrendous! Carmel Valley (G 16) is going to be busy also, but with many/many motorcycles in ballistic mode returning from the races.

FWIW, I usually try to plan a trip to Monterey in the early morning on a Tuesday, at this time of year. However, the summer traffic will slow you down (even on Tuesdays) until after Labor Day! ;)

Will keep checking here to see what develops...

Oops, better make that July 10th. It still falls on a Sunday. We'll probably start toward the north end so we'll get the traffic part out of the way. 198 to 101 to Carmel Valley Road, on to 1 south to Morro Bay then home by the 41/101/58/229/46/41 (boring part and back into the heat). Anybody want to join up anywhere along the way?

[MY OWN QUOTE] I will be travelling to the races on Friday, July 9th, to ride some demos and see the vendage.

Doh...? After consulting with my calendar, I will NOT be at the races on Friday, July 9th. I will be there on Friday, July 8th. From now on, I will consult my calendar first (1st) before posting!

For those of you who will be doing this ride on the 10th, Have fun!

I'll catch you on another one! :assasin:

Okay, How 'bout July 11th?, Anybody up for a run up/down the coast?
Yep, 11 July is, in fact, a Monday so we're really talking about the 10th. Or, perhaps, the 9th?
Also, TWN, Oh! Captain my Captain, thou art playing thy hand too close to thy Bates jacket! If you know where the CalCoast HRC group ride is currently scheduled to meet up, and where the group might subsequently travel, on that weekend, would you be so kind as to post that information here? I know, I know, I could check the CCHRC web site but this is easier and, I really do want to learn if you are really leading us lemmings to the double black diamonds. If so, I would, then, adjust, the suspension.
