Those guyz were crazy!

I remember being a young 'un, riding the dez on my DT1 while my Uncles friend rode a Triumph sled with nothing but street clothes on; tshirt, jeans, lineman boots. No helmet, no goggles, no nada. Oh, he did have an ever present Camel lit. The old guy sure was fast though and god help ya if got to close to his rear wheel.

These pix reminded me of that. Good post!

Great pictures of how it used to be. I started rideing back then myself with a HD Knuckle Head about a 1947. Since this was the most available bike around then that I could afford, well, you did the best you could with what you had, hence the term you "run what you brung", of course a lot of the guys were taking off all the weight they could, like fenders , lights, bags and crash bars. About the time these pictures were taken I was off to the Korean thing and my bike was sitting in my parents basement for the duration. I know I was a long way from being an "expert" rider then but I was hooked then and I still am. Motorcyles have been my passion every since that first "Knuckle Head".
