there was some chat about forming a Group back in '05 ,,

If there are any interested owners lets get together and make this happen ,,

How about meeting on the BRP in a central location ???

March???

the last weekend of Feb I am going to Boone NC to meet up with luvtoride and slapnpop for some road exploration for EOM

I'd like in on this trip, too... but will depend on the planned weekend. Planning to do a run probably the latter part of March. Maybe make it early in the month?

I'm going to look into my plans & let ya'll know. If you decide on a date before then... my tough luck if I can't make it.

Heidi

Also, me being the furthest out... I'd really appreciate a location that I can get to in the least amount of time. I can make it out to the Waynesboro/Charlottesville area by roughly, lunchtime... or late lunch.

PS... be seeing ya' soon David.

I forgot to mention... David, GREAT GROUP NAME!

I'll be out of town (actually will be in the area of Harrisonburg) from 25 Feb to 4 Mar........other than that, the wife and I may be interested

VB FJR, are you the gentleman that I met at the NC rest stop? I think that man's name was Stuart. I'm Heidi & the guy I was with is Jeff & his girl Laura.

I'm not that horribly familiar with the Waynesboro area. My suggestion would be to jump onto the BRP. Maybe right at the very top of the BRP... where 64 crosses? There's a rest area B4 you cross over onto Skyline, correct? That seems like it'd be fairly easy to find.

I'm definitely open to suggestions, though. I was just thinking in terms of somewhere easy to find. Ya'll tell me where... & I'll find it (hopefully)

Also, I haven't ever stopped at that particular rest area the one time I cruised through there. I don't know whether they have drinks & the sort.

Also, I think that the name that you came up with is awesome! I have no other suggestions. I really like this one.

I've notified a couple of area riders to this trip. Haven't gotten too much response, yet... but that was only yesterday. We'll see. But I'm pretty sure that I'll be up to this trip, though.

I just thought of something... in order for me to make it worth it to go this far, I'd be spending the night in some cheesy fleabag motel & riding around on Sunday, too b4 I head home. I don't suppose that since you people are fairly close, you'd be spending the night somewhere enroute?

Hahaha... just kidding about the cheesy fleabag hotel... one that's clean & cheap... YEAH, THAT'S IT!!!!

No Heidi, my name isn't Stuart, it is Joe........and you met me before you bought your FJR, remember? LOL But that is another story ;)

Uh huh... changed your screen name, eh?

I'm in (and may be able to talk my fiancee into joining us also) :D

East bound or West bound exit off I 64 at the top of Afton Mountain (I believe it's exit 99) dumps you at the same stop light, turn right, go back under 64 and take your first right. This leads (about 50 feet) to a small gas station on the right (Chevron, I think) if you go behind the left side of the gas station there is a gravel parking lot for the visitors center for the BRP. Would make a good meeting place (or the lot by the gas station - either way a "stones throw away" from each other)

Whooo Whooo "We going riding, we going riding"

In the spirit of the 1st meet of the Old Dominion FJR Group may I make a suggestion??? & it's just a suggestion... How about if we spend the night wherever we stop? We can make sure that it's early enough for the locals/fairly locals to make it home in daylight... & we'd be in new territory for the next morning's start. aka... planning by the seat of your pants.

Heidi

we are planning by the seat of our pants,,

I am going to stay in Waynesboro Sat nite , so I can decide which way I will go home on Sunday ,, so that is why I requested the motel info ,,

Oh, I misunderstood you... kinda'.

What I was talking about... planning by the seat of your pants is getting a hotel on the fly. I just assumed that the overnighters would probably stick together. My bad! But, "If" we all ride south in the afternoon, you'd be closer to home on Sunday! I didn't know that you are planning to stay in Waynesboro overnight.

I'm betting that if I ride out with ridgerunner (Jeff Dean) or any other riders from this area, that we'll make the evening stay wherever we decide to stop late in the day... That is, unless that ending place ends up being horribly north... which puts us way further from home.

I'm sure that we'll be riding around b4 departing for home on Sunday. If you'd like, you are welcome to ride with us. Also, anyone else that wants to partake is welcome, too.

Hahaha, on the other hand, if Jeff/others don't make it I'll probably be begging to hang out with you. I don't like riding alone in the mountains. It's kind of unsettling to a novice canyon carver.

Gary, do you have to get on 64 to access this area? I'm assuming not. I'd probably be more likely to ride the BRP in from the south. Can you give directions coming from the south on the BRP? Anything special to look out for?

They clearly are planning on stopping for the day at the place that serves drinks. I'd suspect that to be the last stop of the day and kickstands down until the next if adult beverages were consumed.

Once you nail down the location of that stop, just call the motel across the street and make reservations. You'll be all set for the night!
