your logic is right on,,

thanks

luvtoride,

I am just not trying to over think this ,,

the whole idea is to meet & greet ,, ride out and have some fun together,, kickin tyres and sharing some road stories over a meal and a brew or 2 ,,

I'm a possiblility and would like to "give it a go". May have to decide "at the last minute", as my company will be in the midst of a merger at that time, and we've been advised not to make any plans within 3 weeks or so of the merger date :dribble: .

I live near Luvtoride, so I'll likely coordinate with her as the date approaches. Its a great idea, and if I have to miss this one, will look forward to the next. Thanks to all who are putting this together. Jay (Chesapeake, VA).

I'm in as long as work doesn't mess things up as usual. Will let you know David as soon as I know if the 11th is open. Have to go to Pittsburgh just don't know what weekend yet.

The northern most end of the BRP (MP1) is 50 yards (or so) from the gas station / parking lot mentioned. When you reach the end of the BRP you exit to the left, then follow the yellow line. If coming from the north on the Skyline Drive, you will exit to the right at the end of the Skyline Drive (Same exit as the one off the BRP).

This is the aformentioned area off exit 99 on I 64 where there is a small gas station and the "Afton Inn" (rather pricy if I'm told correctly- but beautiful views)

If one was to go from there west bound on I 64 to exit 94 (5miles west) and exit onto Rt 340 north (right turn at end of exit ramp) you would be approx. 200 yards from the following: Days Inn; Super 8 Motel; kentucky fried chicken; Exxon; South River Grill (Resturant) Applebees; Starbucks Drive Thru; Cracker Barrell; 7 Eleven; Ruby Tuesday; Wendys; etc.

Quite often throughout the year I see bikes at both the Days Inn and Super 8

Please let me know if there are any other questions--should we plan a ride also or just a get together. I can come up with some route ideas if a ride is in order. Also, if planning a ride approx how long? 3 hrs round trip or more or less??

Gary

Ok, gotcha'

well folks this seems to be pulling together ,,

it's great to see everyone joining in

what I had in mind for the ride is for everyone to put a route together that they would like to take ,, map it out ,, then when we meet ,, look at what we have and consolidate the info for the ride ,,

Keep in touch as time gets closer Jay. Talk to ya' soon.

toophast

thanks for all the info

you da man

Crackerbarrel lunch (they will slide tables together for us and the price is right) ,, ride ,, brews and Super 8 ,, and whatvever we decide for the next day sounds good to me ,,

If anyone is interested - I'll (and maybe my lovely wife) be running down Rt 95 to 3 to 20 to 64 to the Cracker Barrel. I/we usually stop at Starbucks to wake up before heading out. If anyone wants to convoy, we'll be at the Starbucks on Rt 610 (exit 143B) at 0900, 11 March. I figure from there it's about a 2 hour ride to the restaurant.

Jim

Sorry to butt in, and sorry if I'm a little slow (us north'ners are like that, ya know?), but, where/when is everyone meeting up on Saturday? Although 3/11 is the date that I should be glued to the TV watching the bike races from Daytona (if I don't go down to Daytona, that is), I might be up for traveling down from PA and meeting up with you if you don't mind me joining. Having never been on Skyline Drive or the BRP, if you could just give me a town name, I'll figure out a fun way to get there.

Randy, we're going to meet at a Cracker Barrel restaurant near Waynesboro, VA. Rt 64 then take 340 N (exit 94) and the restaurant is w/i a half mile or so. Probably the fastest way for you is Rt 81 to 64 east. Not a real fun ride, but probaby the fastest.

And by the way, you are most welcome!

Jim

Thanks, Jim. A little over 3 hours for me if I take the direct route. Let me know what time and I'll make it if the stars align.

From the looks of the pole on the other thread we will be meeting at 1200. :D

The question is where will we be meeting? :dntknw: Choices are: at the Cracker Barrel (off Exit 94 on I64) or at the gas station just off the Northernmost end of the BRP (Exit 99 on I64) I can type up detailed local directions for either exit/meeting place.

The address for the Cracker Barrel is:

101 Appletree Lane

Waynesboro VA 22980

The directions from Rt 64 are:

- From Rt 64, take exit 94 for US-340 to WAYNESBORO/STUARTS DRAFT and go 0.20 miles (0.33 Km)

- Turn RIGHT on US-340/STUARTS DRAFT HWY and go 0.18 miles (0.30 Km)

- Turn LEFT on RED TOP ORCHARD RD and go 0.17 miles (0.28 Km)

- Turn RIGHT on APPLETREE LN and go 0.01 miles (0.02 Km)

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all and talking all things FJR. Not sure at this point my/our participation after the restaurant. Lorie hasn't ridden since last summer and I'm not sure how the 2+ hour ride to the meet place will affect her. Of course it'll be her first time on the Rick Mayer seat for more than a half hour - maybe she'll want to go on forever!

Is the Super 8 folks have mentioned in Waynesboro??

SF - Jim

It's looking less likely that I'll be making the Daytona/Key West trip and more likely that I'll be able to make this trip.
