I'm sure most of you are at or going to work.

Dunno when they'll replay the Olympics opening ceremonies in Beijing.

I have to say, it is pretty damn spectacular.I would recommend watching it!

only been on for 45 mins....lets see what else goes on.....

I was lucky enough to catch most of the opening ceremonies last night. They were freakin awesome. The technology/preparation/ labor involved to pull that off were simply spectacular. Glad I saw it.

I'll second that

The fireworks and that dude running a lap across the scroll on the top of the stadium did look pretty sweet, I'll give them that. Hopefully their country has peaked with this and we'll have a shot in table tennis.

glad you guys could catch it.

wasting away most of my weekend watching whatever random sports Japan is good at.... !

Parade of athletes got a bit dull. Spent a lot of time on wikipedia looking each one up. Never noticed the albanian flag before, one of my favorites now! :)

I used to live in and still have friends in Vancouver (site of the next Olympics). Apparently, Opening Ceremony Organizers there are still in a corner whimpering softly while in the fetal position....

It was something, I love the comment their prime minister said when someone commented on the number of performers (15k). "People we have plenty of people" or something along those lines!

Jim Lampley commented that it was the most incredible spectacle he'd ever seen or was ever likely to see again. I thought it was absolutely astonishing. Those 2008 drums were fantastic, and I doubt there'll ever be more fireworks in one place again... except perhaps the closing ceremonies.

Btw, the www.nbcolympics.com web site has video online of nearly every event. It is tremendous coverage. Watching the American women sweep the sabre competition was awesome. The US had never won a fencing medal before 2004. And the 4X100 mens freestyle relay was incredible, too. Really enjoying these games.
