My local Yamaha/Victory dealer is having an open house this weekend with demo rides. I'm not going to ride the 2010 FJR as it is the same as my 2009. What should I try? If anyone is in the area, the dealer is Menneto Powersports on Route 9 in Clifton Park, NY.

I'd try out the R1 myself. Cross plane motor sounds good, especially with some slip-ons. I was at a dealer last summer and a guy had a new R1 with full Akropovic system and a bunch of other goodies. That thing sounded sweet. Then maybe an R6, haven't ridden a 600 in a loooong time.

That's all I used to ride...till I couldn't stand the 'position' any more. Well, my last bike was an 01 FZ1, much more comfy than the RR literbikes, but still no FJR!

Well, assuming they won't have any Gen1 bikes still around .....

Not any yamaha street bikes worth looking at other than the FZ1

But for dirt the YX450f is a favorite of mine:

This would be fun to demo:

And certainly more reliable than a Gen2 FJR: -perhaps faster too

Or maybe try this out for a while.

Yamaha does a lot of nice stuff ....it's too bad they dropped the ball on the Gen2

I usually try to ride everything just for perspective . You never know what you'll be surprised with .
