Hi, I'm staying in Costa Mesa for work, arriving Sunday the 14th and leaving the following Saturday. I'd love to go for some rides if practical even if it's just getting me started North on some back roads on Saturday morning. Let me know if you want me to follow you around on a ride :)

There is a chance of a work hours ride on Thursday or Friday.

Orangie, PM zzkenoman. He's got the routes and rides down there. Careful for all the bleached blondes with stuffed tata's running round in the Bimmers, talking on their cellies!

Anyone else in SoCal want to meet & ride with a northerner?

I don't know, sounds like he won't have his better half along! :p :p :p

No way i can do it during the week but might be able to show him some nice roads on his way back Saturday.

Hey OV, give me a call towards the end of the week.

Nope, Sherri is stuck in a glass class...and someone has to watch these three teenagers that we have. But I'd sure like to ride with you some on Saturday!

Hey OV,

Which direction do you plan on going from LA?

We could go on a ride that put you near the 5 at the end, or the coast, or Mojave. Do you want to spend the whole day or 1/2 day and then head north?

I was thinking of riding closer to the coast on the way back...but Mojave has me interested. Are there good rides out that way that also get me going in a northerly direction that I could continue on to eventually meet up with 99 or 5?

Just looking at the map, I was thinking about taking 14 off of 5 and continuing up 14 past California City and taking it all the way to 178 and going West to Sierra Highway/Kern River hwy(mountain 99 road)/mountain road 50/Hot springs Drive/ Avenue 56 to 99N...I'm not sure how far this is and was thinking you might head back south on 99?

Red Rock State rec vehicle area looks interesting to ride through and mountain road 50 looks positively dragon slayer like

I'm riding from Costa Mesa to La Mesa (San Diego area) tomorrow evening after work. Is there a fun, but just as fast way to go?

Not a whole lot out of your way and much more enjoyable than I-5 or I-15

Head down I-5

Get off near San Juan Capistrano

Hwy-74 "Ortega Highway"

Take 74 over to Lake Elsinore

I-5 to I-15

I-15 south to San Diego

(Still have room for more?)

Get off at Hwy 78, take 78 down through Ramona and hook up with the 67

(San Pasqual Valley, Pine St, San Vicente, Barona Rd, Wildcat Canyon)

67 South runs into the 8

El Cajon, La Mesa general area

Let me know a time frame you are planning & I might be able to join you.

How about Angeles crest/big tujunga to lancaster, 14 up to Nine mile canyon/Kennedy meadow/Sherman Pass (TWN showed MCML & I this road on the way back from Yosemite last year) to Mountain road 50 to 99?

Anyone else want to come along?
