Well, I did it! I ordered the 2006 FJR 1300A today. A lot of input that I got here helped me decide so thank you all for your help.

I got a quote from Troy City Garage for an out the door price of $11,819.00. I called my local dealer who I like and who has done service on my bike and asked if they'd match it and they said they would. I was in there an hour later and done deal!

Now that damned waiting part that  I am keeping my Valkyrie Interstate so whenever it comes in will be fine as I won't be bikeless while I wait.

Sounds like a good price. Don't worry, it's well worth the wait. Good luck

Good OTD price for a bike that should astound you if you are used to a Valk. From memory, based on the Valk I owned for maybe 6 months, my '03 FJR was far faster, much better handling, excellent brakes and very comfortable with the optional Corbin built "Yamaha" saddle combined with bar risers. The big drawback to my '03 (supposedly fixed for '06) was the engine heat...in the 80s I felt like a turkey on Thanksgiving Day...yukk. Soooo, if Yamaha has indeed muted that issue my '06A should be a really fine bike, I'm hoping...as time drags slowly towards the promised March delivery....oh sigh. DFO :(

I got rid of a Valk because of the heat - damn thing was like having a hairdryer pointed at the inside of my left thigh on 90+ degree days here in Texas. The heat issue kept me from getting the FJR in 2004 - now that it is supposedly fixed and after reading all those on here who 'fixed' their heat issues I'm confident that the 06 will be fine or at the least the wonderful tech minds on here will figure out a solution. Waiting for my 06 to come in!

Congrats sixfootfive!!! Welcome to the waiters club!

Did they give you an estimate on delivery?? Just curious how far back they are saying now.

I have an 03, have ordered an 06 and can't tell you how awesome it is.

Ah yes, waiting. Attention waiters:

Waiting really, really, really, realuy, really, really sucks. Then you get your FJR and its like life begins anew. The air is cleaner, the grass is greener, the roads have never been so fine, the scenery takes your breath away, riding is unbelievably wonderful, you are grinning like a fool inside your helmet....and life is Grrrrrr-eat!

Pssst, waiters beware. there are some on this forum who will actually "bait" waiters. I know, they are an unscrupulous lot, but loads of fun!

Said Mr. Pot to Mr. Kettle... ;) :D

Hey, Mike? How come you didn't mention Yamaha's proven inability to deliver in the month quoted to buyers? I placed my order on the first day of round one for the '05 PDP with delivery promised in June. June came and went (she was fun, though!). July came and went. August came and almost went before my bike got here.

Also, I don't know how many of you get Automotive News, but they reported a while ago that Yamaha has contracted with Toyota to build hybrid power plants for the new Lexus and Toyota Highlander utes. Guess where those plants are being made? Yup, same line on which Yammy's 'big' 4 cylinders motors are assembled. Article stated that the MC side of Yammy's bidness was 'soft' enough to warrant a reduction in this area and the expansion into the hybrid market.

More delays and less units. Poor waiters... :(

The pretty much said that Mother Yamaha wouldn't put out delivery dates until the ordering period closed. SO I expect to find out something in Jan.

As for the Valk heat, the interstate model has vents that you can open and close to either keep the heat in or blow it out depending on the time of year. Heat really was never an issue for me.

As for the "waiting baiters" bait away, I know I have wheels until the FJR arrives so I'm a content waiter :p It would definately suck to be a nikeless waiter :D

I'll wait with you sixfootfive, ordered mine on Nov. 3, friend let me ride his 03 for an hour. got off the FJR went straight to the dealer and threw $500 at him.

Dear FJR,

You had me at hello.

(I, too, threw $500 at one of my local Yamaha dealers in Sunnyside, WA a couple of weeks ago)

Not to sound negative, but regarding scheduled delivery dates in January, I'll believe it when I see it. :erm:

Waiters unite!

Aaahh, the sound of waiters. Like the return of swallows to Capistrano every year. Beautiful music.

(Psssst: Its worth the wait!)
Great OTD price 6'5"!!

Frisco, the heat ain't as bad as some whiners will have ya believe...gets a little annoying for me in temps above about 85-90 at speeds less than about 35. I just move my feet out on the pegs. In the cold, I can hardly feel ANY heat coming off the thing, and wish for more! I would'nt mind tho, having that new designed fairing on my bike.

BTW, FJready, thanks for the reminder of S.J. Capistrano; lived there for 4 years in the late 70's; great place.

Oopzzz forgot that Yamaha can't build enuff engines...uh-huh. Gee guess I'll be lucky to see my '06 in '06 much less March...sure, and there wuzz gunna be 3-4" of drifting snow on the ground this morning with lots more coming. Oh gee...no snow yet, just hard to believe anythinn one reads as "fact" on the internet......

Well, hopefully my 1200R "tin" will all be back from Mill-vaaaw-kee by Feb so at least I'll have my modified (new suspension, 2 tone silver/black wheels, Stage I "tax", Corbin Gunfighter, Bridgestone BT45Vs going on, too....)H-d racing ORANGE Sportster back to carve curves with until Yamaha does finally get around to delivering the bike I ordered on 28 Sept.......... Happy Thanksgiving all! DFO

You guys will start worrying over nothing. Don't believe what you read here, Yamaha will deliver the bikes exactly as they said they will. They have a new computer system in place especially to track deposit dates and "marry" them up with the correct bikes. This is going to be a banner year for deliveries, and the panniers are coming with the bikes this year, so no more waiting to take the first trip. Man, you guys are lucky!

bwaaaa-haa-haa...ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Hee-hee, snort, chuckle.

;) :haha: :D :p :) ;) :D :haha:

Okay, Mr. Kettle, your turn!
