Just returned from a spectacular 4 day trip from Salem, OR down to N. CA to ride Hiway 36, 3, 299 and some others. I slabbed it down I-5 to Medford and met up with a friend. From there we took 199 down to Crecent City then road the coast down to near Eureka then took 299 east to Weaverville, where we met up with 2 others, and served as our homebase while we were there. Sunday we took Hwy 3 east of Weaverfille via Hayfork pass (another spectacular road with nothing but twistie bliss) down thru Hayfork to the Hwy 3/36 junction. From there we road east to Red Bluff where we took a break. We then headed west and road 36 to Fortuna ...turned around and road it back east again then took Hwy 3 back up to Weaverville. This day resulted in about 320 miles of amazing motorcycle riding, roads and scenery, not to mention the near perfect weather, although it did get into the 90's in some spots.

This was my second time on Hwy 36 and still beleive it is the best motorcycle road in the US. 136 miles end to end of nothing but roads most motorcyclist dream about, no traffic, excellent road surface, banked corners, switchbacks, you name it ..it's there. The pictures simply don't capture 1% of what these roads have to offer as they were taken during pit stops to recoupe for the next stretch of road.

I rode from Weaverville, CA to Salem yesterday ...460 miles and I'm a draggin this morning, but with a smile still on my face of course :) 1354 miles r/t in 3 days of riding.

Will do. We road "GreenSprings" loop? near Ashland on the way home yesterday. That is also a very fun road up to Hyatt Lake! For the last 3-4 days I've been wanting some one to "pinch" me ... Amazing riding and great weather.

Actually Central Point is where my buddy lives ...downtown just off 5th street.

That video is nice but does not capture the *good* segments of the road. I especially liked the section from Platino to the Hwy 3/36 junction ...those 5-10 miles of real tight/sharp mountain twisties. The western half is real nice too ...filled with more of your 30-70mph sweepers. I would say the first half from Red Bluff to the Hwy 3/36 junction is much more technical and has a lot more tight twisties which is what makes the entire road so good as you have a mix of all types of riding. I couldn't beleive how much fun Hayfork pass on Hwy 3 to Weaverville was! We thought Hwy 3 over Hayfork pass to Weaverville was just as good as many aspects of hwy 36! Hwy 3 over Hayfork pass is a MUST ride.
