How about some kind of lunch ride somewhere in the state before it gets to late in the year. For as many FJR's we have in Ore nobody seems to get together. Any ideas??? :)

How about John Day Hwy 26 to Hwy & to Baker City Hwy 86 and over to Hwy 82 through Joseph, Enterprise, Elgin; Hwy 204 up over the Mts to Weston then down to Pendleton and 395 to complete the loop?

That is a ride I had planned a couple of year ago but waited too later and lost the weather (cold and rainy so I dropped from Baker City….)

Why don't you come up to Windy Ridge on Aug. 18th and we will talk about it. We can ride down to Northridge and have a hamburger then over to Cougar and have pie. I'm sure we can come up with a date.

Lets have some more input. I was kind of thinking of something that could be done in a day to avoid hotel costs but anything can be considered.

You know the old story, make a plan, advertise it, and someone will come.

The rest of this month and most weekends in September will not work for me. Leaving for St. Louis and the IBR next Tuesday, back Labor Day. The rest of Sept. is taken up with weekend rides.

A scenic day ride with a variety of roads in Southern Oregon I've enjoyed a couple of times is as follows although I start in Shady Cove rather than Diamond Lake.

With a start at Diamond Lk drive Hwy 230 south to Hwy 62 and on to Hwy 227 at Trail.

From Trail ride to Canyonville then south on I-5 leaving I-5 at exit 88 and Cow Crk Rd.

Follow this road east past Galesville Reservoir to Snow Creek road which travels south over Goolaway Gap to Evans Crk Rd.

Drive east to Hwy 234 and on to Hwy 62

Follow Hwy 62 north ½ mile to Butte Falls Hwy.

Take the BFH to Hwy 140 and Rocky Point on the West Side Road at Klamath Lk.

Drive north to Fort Klamath and Hwy 62.

From here follow Hwy 62 to the Crater Lake loop road and drive to the North entrance.

Take this back to Diamond Lake.

At Crater Lake there is a charge to enter the park unless you're an old duffer like me who has a Golden Age Card which gets you in for free.

I don't know about you guys, but I did show up on the 18th and I did make it to the Cougar Bar and Grill and had pie. Ate with a VFR rider. Mater of fact, it was a layered cherry and peach pie with top crust. Since I was raised by a Heartland American, I used cream (half and half) vs. Ice cream to go with the pie. It was so good. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

As Doug C says, just name the place and someone will most likely come. I've seen as many as 20 plus show up.

See you next time.

Meeting a few others for breakfast at Gordys truck stop in LaPine Or. prior to leaving for Bonneville. will be there around 7am and head south east around 8am if anybody is looking for a ride.
