So she hit the door raging agaainst the local LEO's, I mean how could they do that. Write a ticket for only 5 mile over the limit, it's not that fast, and she has a clean record, no tickets in over 10 years. He must have been a rookie new to the force trying to impress, behind on his quota, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I agreed, 5 over does seem pretty lame, so how fast where you really going?

Well I don't know for sure, I was trying to get my hair dry using the dash vents.

:dribble:

And was probably on the cell phone or texting, too. Too bad IL isn't listed HERE.

So, what exactly were her words....

I can only guess here, but most likely he saw that she was distracted by the improvised hair dryer. Five over is better than careless driving. The judge will probably cut her some slack.

Allah be praised  for my Local Leo on duty yesterday.

The road is a trap, I new it. I know where they sit also. The road is 30 mph. Thats pretty hard to do almost any place for a few miles.

I get to the normal enforcement area, see the Leo sitting there as usual. Do a Homer DOH, as I realize I was doing 50, just cruising along. He had me like a deer in headlights with crosshairs all lined up. No argument to be had.

He kept on hittin that slurpy and I tooled on down the road :)

Thought I would post for your admin ***, that not ALL are bad.

You know, a Good Cop, Bad Cop thread ;)

"He kept on hittin that slurpy and I tooled on down the road"

Slurpy and a doughnut perhaps?

You got real lucky.

I'll pass along the kind words along to her.

She's not getting much slack around here, the place is full of peeps that drive trucks for aliving.

last I heard it expressed was...........Driving under the influence of a ................Hair Dryer.

I can hear it now, "I was like, y'know, tryin' to dry my hair with the vents and, like, y'know, I wasn't watching my speedometer. I don't know how fast I was going, cuz' like, y'know, I already told you I was trying to, y'know, dry my hair and, like, driving and fluffing my hair. I could'a been going that fast, but he was just mean for, like, pulling me over and all. I mean, like, I was polite and said, 'Yes, sir!' And, 'No, sir!' So, like, y'know he could'a let me go with a warning, but, like, 'Nooooo!' he writes me a, y'know, ticket, and all."

Driving while stoopid!?!?

Tell her RenoJohn just escaped a 102 on radar and she get's busted for 5 over?

SHE MUST BE REALLY UGLY..

or RenoJohn has learned how to apply makeup..

Escaped with 102 on display :dribble: how many sexual favors did it take

I was in a Chicago court long time ago and as proceeding started prosecutor stood up said, anything above 1 mph over a speed limit is above speed limit.

It still amazes me the polarization that speed enforcement generates. I can't even begin to tell you how many neighborhood meetings I've been to where speed enforcement was their number one priority. They want people going slow in their neighborhoods, period! Then, when the motor cop goes out there, who's the first person that gets tagged for 12 over on a residential street? One of the hopping mad neighbors from the meeting. The response is almost always the same, "I didn't mean ME, I'm not the speeder we were talking about!"

Now, having said that, 5 over is, in my opinion, pretty lame under normal circumstances. School zones, very narrow residential roads, etc where 20 or 25 MEANS 20 or 25, I have much less sympathy.

5 over on a freeway? Come on! But, I know it happens.

And, legally, that's true. I wouldn't want anyone to be able to successfully argue ambiguity into a "limit". Enforcement of said limit is a completely different beast than the legality of said limit. When I'm watching a drug house and I want to do a pretext stop, 1 mph is just as good as failing to signal or defective lighting.

Yes, but.....he "wrote" her a ticket for 5 mph over. How fast was she actually going?

Exactly what I was thinking.......Was she cited for "5 mph over" but doing 15-20 over or was she doing 5mph over and got a ticket for it. Big Difference...............

She doesn't know how fast she was going, she was busy drying her hair. <_<

ZEO = Zealous Enforcement Officer ? :)

I passed a county sheriff Wednesday doing about 15 over on the FJR out in the country. Gave him a big wave and kept on trucking. He didn't turn around. Thanks Officer.
