A very belated trip report but here goes! Especially for those wondering were to go next summer!
A convergence of a number of events solidified our plans for a long summer ride - CFR in June, WFO-8 the end of July, and not having been in the Pacific Northwest for awhile. CFR was too early for us to get away; but WFO-8 provided the incentive. The total trip was just over 4800 miles in 21 days starting the Monday, July 27, 2009 . The full report can be found here https://theboomerzoomers.net/trips/canada2009/index.htm
Here's the route:
First night out after a late start because I tried to poke my eye out the day before. I grew up across the Shasta Valley from Mt. Shasta and never get tired of looking at it.
"I saw a fish!" The Deschutes river running behind by our room in Bend, OR.
Lunch stop in Mitchell, OR. You have to take the "business loop" to see downtown. Left to right - Catherine's Vstar 1300, Roy's FJR, Brodie's post elk / pre-paint job, FarWestFastEddy.
Lake Wallow just South of Joseph, OR.
A great shot of the WFO-8 FJR and "friends". Thanks Iggy
Columbia Lake just South of Fairmont Hot Springs, BC
Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta
Moraine Lake, Banff NP - we liked it better than Lake Louise - don't miss it
I thought it was summer! Just South of the Icefield Visitor's Center on Hwy 93
This is as close as we got to the icefields - the weather better be better next trip!
Athabasca Falls, Jasper NP, Alberta
Some of the wildlife - calling all FJRs
Moose Lake, West of Jasper on Hwy 16
Monashee Pass area on Hwy 6 between Vernon and Needles, BC
Along Hwy 31A between New Denver and Kaslo, BC
Just another pretty lake!! Kootenay Pass Summit on Hwy 3 between Creston and Salmo, BC
The ridge behind Hedley, BC. There's mining in thar hills...
One the Parks West of Hedley on Hwy 3
Snoqualmie Falls, WA
The Moths World Championship, Cascade Locks, OR. These get up and run on their underwater wings! I understand one set up for racing is $20K plus.
California on fire - Hat Creek, Hwy 89
Picture for another time going over Carson Pass, Hwy 88, CA on the way home
