Doing some work today, I removed the left outter faring, and in doing so unscrewed the left inner panel. Well, that panel ain't nowhere to be seen now. And the only thing I can imagine is that I unscrewed it, but left it kinda hanging on the inside there. So that when I took the bike out for a test ride without the left faring reinstalled, the inside panel went walkabout on the highway.

Anyone got a left inside panel available for sale? Can that part be ordered?

JB

JB,

First, you get on the Yamaha web site, and find the part number for that panel -

It's on the fiche titled "cowling 2"

OK - Heck - here's the part number and description:

3P6-2836K-00-00 PANEL, INNER 1

(That's the left inner side, right? )

Next, you contact Mike Kolstad at University Motors - [email protected]

Put "parts request - fjr forum" in the subject line -

Then say hi, howya doing, tell him what you did, promise NOT to do it again, and ask him for a price quote for that part number - mention again that you're on the fjrforum -

and this would also be a good time to add in a dozen extra of each fastener used on the bike - or oil filters, air filters, Iridium plugs, etc.

As soon as he stops laughing and telling everybody there about this one, he'll reply back with a price quote. You can then arrange payment however you want to. They just keep my shipping info and CC info on hand, and all I have to do is send an email - and it gets replied to usually within a day, and delivered whenever UPS wants to.

Very strong discount - I haven't figured it, but I think it's around 35 to 40%. Substantial savings.

Well, I don't think you could have been any more helpful unless you'd actually ordered the part for me and hand-delivered it.

And yes, I will bookmark the link because this was about as bone-headed as I ever hope to be, but it sure won't be the last time. I'm thinkin' those little clear plastic washers'd be a good thing to order while I'm at it.

But even losing that part couldn't bum me out after successfully installing a power plate and relay, along with retrofitting the BMW-style male and female plugs for my Widder vest. It all works like a charm.

Now, if only I could find that #$%*@! panel! :angry2:

Thanks a million!

Just take off the inside right panel, and you'll have matching inners!

The guy I bought my bike from had some work done, I'm riding across the country and suddenly have a piece of plastic in my lap.

No idea where it goes, either.... bike runs good, so...oh well..... <G>

but I'm bookmarking that site for future reference!
