I've got to take my work truck to San Diego Monday morning (leaving ~ 6:00). I'm sure there are no good routes! I'm also sure I5 would be a big mistake! Does anyone know the best freeways for early AM?

I would take 210 to 605 (HOV) to 405 (HOV) to 73 (toll) to 5 ( some HOV).

Well I'll be running solo so no HOV and I don't plan on buying a speed-pass for one trip. This is a service call to trouble-shoot a machine for a new customer that I was recommended to, I don't foresee many other trips down there.

I was thinking 210-605-60-15 to SD.

Oy... How early do you gotta be there? I'd just shoot down the 15 from the 210. If you gotta be there bright and early, I'd go down the night before and take a room, then do your bidness and git outta Dodge early.

I told the customer a minimum of 2 hours travel time each direction, I doubt they open before 8:00am. My wife is leaving town Sunday until 7/11 so I'll have to put the doggie out Monday am and bring him back in Monday pm.

15 through Escondido is the worst in San Diego county during rush hour. It starts stacking up around 6AM and stays bad for hours. If you can avoid it, best to do so. How far down into San Diego are you going? As far as pre-San Diego county routes,...sorry, no input.

Turn the stereo up and enjoy the gridlock.

Helicopter? Transporter Beam? There are no good routes at that time of day. How about going earlier, then having a leisurely breakfast when you get there?

I take the 405N to work at about that time of day and both sides of the freeway are already stacking up the traffic.

Ahhhhh....the joys of driving in southern California :grrr: .....Rogue....is there no way you could take your gear on your bike?....or beg, borrow, or steal whatever you need when you get there?....

A couple blocks from Miramar

Not an option, too many tools & parts.

Or leave at 0400? :dribble:
 Looks like the best possibility.

Sorry, bro! I leave the house at 0430 every day, so I know it isn't giving you good news. But since it's "just this once"..... and then you'll have the lovely commute home, too.
