OK, before one of you guy's tells me to do a search. I already did. Came up with zilch, so please not too much razzing about me being the fng. Ha Ha. I've been riding bikes for 36 years, and reading this forum approx. 3 months. We are looking for a backrest without going with the trunk. Do any of you have just the backrest and what are your experiences. My wife seems to think she will be more comfortable on our trip to Minnesota. Thanks

Maybe it's not enough to say you did a search, but what you tried to search on and failed.

I found this magic thread in 22 seconds of searching for the term +backrest +passenger.

your "magic thread" came back with a homemade job. Not what Iam looking for. How did I know I'd get this response. I've been doing some reading huh?

If you think Garauld's work qualifies as "homemade"....well.....whatever. He's quite good.

Otherwise, I find many other threads with the search term I mentioned.....including one's that aren't homemade. I'd link it, but I'm sure you're quite capable of doing it yourself and wouldn't want to be coddled.

Gunny on that.

I bought a rack from Premier and love it nice fit an finish. I bought it for a givi box but now not going that way will look at thier other racks and definitly Garauld's.

You will find that a lot of real good farkles are made by the talented people on this site that also ride the same bikes. :yahoo:

I got mine from Preimer Preimer

I got the medium plate and back rest. Good pieces. They also have just the back rest. My wife says it is a lot more comfy.

Did you try going to google and search for "yamaha backrest fjrforum.com" ? Let us know if that comes up with anything.

:clapping:

Maybe you could do some research and read your way to corbin site and find a seat with a backrest without the topcase? Last i checked the Yamaha backrest only works with their topcase. I guess you could just try to tape it on with duck tape! Otherwise you could always consider a home job...

:D

Geraulds back rest is very good. The quality does anything but remind you of something that is home made. The man has skills and I like mine a great deal.

I will take Gary's "homemade" craftsmanship & stellar service & warranty any day over a mass-produced backrest & rack. Mine installed in 10 minutes & looks incredible & functions even more incredibly. Gary was kind enough to change my order well after the fact when I learned that he could add a small plate for an LED cluster. Just back from 2,700 miles & decided that Gary's rack & 'rest are the best farkles I've invested in.
