Thanks Bob. I just scored one because, as I found out on another thread, my Passport 8500 X50 Gray (has a model number starting with QKLR) does not have capability to use TSR (Traffic Sensor Reject). And that is the reason it has so many false K band alerts, from the cars with collision avoidance systems, etc.

These Woot units are Passport 8500 X50 Black, and the description says they are TSR enabled.

I don't ride in VA often enough (or in DC ever) to worry about the RD stealthiness. Certainly not worth an extra $200 to me. YMMV.

PS - I just bought the linked to Passport 8500 X50 Black and immediately put my two old 8500's up on eBay. They both have bids on them already (did a 10 day auction). I'm pretty sure that what I'll be getting from selling the two older, mostly useless ones will be enough to pay for this new one. I'm pretty happy with that.

I have the Redline. It's invisible to radar. Haven't tested it in VA yet but, it's nice to know it's there.

I rode through VA with my Redline on this October and had no problems. I have also ridden through VA several times with my 8500 on with no problems either. Make no mistake, radar detector-detectors work real good. If the police are running RDDs and you have anything but a top of the line shielded detector they can sniff you out a long way away.

I've gotten nailed in Fukyer County, VA (Fauquier County, VA)...and the trooper that pulled me over saw just the windshield mount for my RD, and asked if I had it in the car...told him it was in the trunk (it was actually under the passengers seat). He did award me for speeding.
