PATRIOT GUARD MISSION , LaGrande , Or.
I JUST recieved this Email... form Jeff Matson Assistant Washington State Captain
Patriot Guard Riders
Subject : Patriot Guard Riders Mission...LaGrande Or. March 26, 2007
Heads up
There is a confirmed mission for SFC John Stephens in LaGrande OR Monday March 26. Time TBD.
Here is the PGR mission thread, please watch for updates https://www.patriotguard.org/Forums/t...c/Default.aspx
If you wish, please feel free to post condolences to the mission thread, as the families and friends do read them, and many have said how moving it was to read
that so many people do care.
Also if anyone is planning on attending the service in LaGrande, and is willing to ride as a group, please post you plans to the mission thread so others can meet up with you
the following occurred Saturday at Spc. Bell's mission in Colville.
I met Pfc. Van Slyke's parents Saturday,
They had just had funeral services for their son who was killed in the war the previous week in Michigan. at wthich the Michigan PGR folks had a large turnout.
They attended the service with the PGR in Colville Wa. for Spc. Ryan Bell.
After the service concluded Saturday, one of our ride captains was talking to the Van Slykes, and they said they just had to come out today, because at the service for their son, they could not understand why we do what we do.
They said that after standing in the flag line for 2 hours to Honor Spc. Bell, that they now understand, and that being there with us helped them too.
People, that is why we do what we do.
On another note, the Patriot Guard Riders would like to find some additional Ride Captains in Eastern WA. I have attached a word document that describes what the Ride Captains duties are, when a mission is scheduled.
If you are interested in finding out more about being a PGR Ride Captain, please contact me.

I am planning on having a meeting in Mid to Late April (Probabably the 14th or 21st) for anyone who is interested in finding out more information. We will not be formally appointing Ride Captains until after this meeting when we have had the chance to meet and answer questions.
We have some ride captains in Spokane, and areas north of Spokane, and 1 in the Yakima Valley. I am particularly looking for folks in other areas such as Walla Walla, Tri Cities, Moses Lake, Ellensburgh, Wenatchee, North Central WA, etc, that are a long way for any of our exhisting captains to cover.
Again if you are interested in finding out more about being a Ride Captain please contact me.
