Hey guys. I'm going to be headed to Patterson on May 18. Some friends of mine are big into paint ball and there is a tourney they are planning to attend. May 18 will be travel day. We are planning on camping in Patterson. Their tourney is May 19 & 20, so they will be occupied cappin' each other. As for me, I don't care much for getting capped. I'm tagging along soley for the trip. I will be trailering with my fjr (that's PULLING a trailer with my fjr, not the harley way). So, the question is - what to do? Ya'll have any sights that must not be missed? Any roads that must be traveled? Suggestions?

HELP!

Scab, are you camping at Sam A. Baker state park??? You are right in the middle of some of the best riding area in Southern Mo. I would be glad to high light a Missouri map and send it to you. Let them play paint ball, and you go riding. Not sure if I can make it down there, but if I can I would be happy to show you around. There is a great place to eat in Piedmont, its called Ralphs on hwy HH. I have plenty of Missouri maps, PM me your address and I will highlite the best/fun roads for you and drop it in the mail.

Let me know if I can help. Have fun, Smitty

You know, those roads down there are not very busy. No one uses them because they know they'll get lost. Most places have numbers on their roads. MO has letters. And they KNOW that most folks can barely count let alone spell. Confuses the HELL out of 'em, so they just stays ta home.

KK ROCKS!!!!!! (dunno about HH. Did I do that one? Yes, I am a dyslexic Hoosier...)

Hell, I've been lost most of my life. Why should that change just cause I ride to Missouri?

If the scenery is nice, lost can be good.

As long as I find my way back to work by the following Wednesday, all is well with the world.

Scab:

These guys are giving you good advice. You're heading into one of those "motorcycling nirvana" places. There used to be a great little (hard to find) restaurant in Des Arc. Hwy 49 is a great ride thru Annapolis, Viburnum, Dillard. But, you can get lost on those "alphabet roads". IIRC, MO only puts paved roads on the map. And, sometimes they start out paved, turn to gravel, and end up paved. Once, I said (looking at the map), "Hell -- this road must go thru and probably ends up over there." From then on -- we were well and truly lost for a considerable time....

All you need to know about MO roads:

Numbers: Not so fun due to it being a some what major highway

Letters: WooHoo! Less traffic and better roads. Watch out for the amish and the farmers!

Scab, I got a number for you, US160 west to 65, after that the wiggles go away but its fun while it last.
