Well, it is that time a year again to support a very worthy cause namely, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, via the Ride 4 Kids event. I will be attending the Los Angeles event schduled on May 6, 2007. This will be my third year and for those of you who haven't attended a Ride 4 Kids (there are 37 this year across the country, visit www.ride4kids.org), you are missing a great event for an even better cause. Last year the Los Angeles event alone raised about $232,000 for the PBTF. In LA, there will be about 1,000 bikes assembled for a police escorted ride around the Palos Verdes Peninula, a light lunch after, and some heart warming speeches from medical people, parents, and survivors during the 'Celebration of Life'. Complete information is available on the above website, the riders donation fee is $35 and I can't think of a better cause. For those of you who are unable to attend please consider a donation for this GREAT CAUSE , the KIDS! Take a moment to visit my webpage explaining the event and what it means, and if at all possible please consider making a tax deductable donation to the Pediatric Brain tumor Foundation. I speak from experience as a parent who heard the words 'brain tumor' as my 11 year old daughters diagnosis, absolutely the most devasting time of my life. I can't begin to explain the importance of this organization ------

Rogue - hope to see you there again. This year I will arrange a table at the IHOP that will hold all who care to meet for a pre ride breakfast - more details to come.

March 6? May 6. ;) CalCoast Riders is out to top the $10,400 we threw in last year. Anyone who wants to toss in, I'll be happy to forward your donation, get a receipt and send that back to you. PM me.

Thanks, Mike, for posting this up!

 May 6 - thanks for the heads up!

NUT - Don't be stealing my THUNDER - I'm out to top my $7,627 I did last year! Just Kidding - as long as it gets to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation - I don't mind how it gets there!

OK, then! The war is on! Care to go for $15K? Hmmmmmm? B)

Hmmmmm - a challenge :yahoo: - Well I'm pretty sure I will not be able to crack 15K this year, although you never know, I'll try like hell! However, I certainly encourage you guys to do so, 10.4K last year, your a heartbeat away from 15K! Also, you are absolutely right - the cause is just. What these kids (and their families of course) go through is beyond discription - It's not the way it is supposed to be, especially for a kid.

WOW, how do you guys manage to raise so much? I have been doing this ride for the last 6 years and last year was the first time I helped with organizing it here in Chicago.

So, far I managed to raise roughly 250. :(

There is a link in my sig.

Coug -

First off, great that you're involved - you are to be congratulated. As far as fund raising - what I do is write a compelling email with a link to my site. I send the email to family, friends, acquaintances, and business associates. Generally one mailing isn't enough, I probably end up sending it out at least two or three times over the course of a 2 - 3 month period. I also work for company that owns several car dealerships so hitting them up brings in quite a bit. You can also hold a fund raisers locally if you are so motivated, car wash, bake sale, etc. Don't be shy about asking people you know to contribute no matter the amount, it all adds up. Again - great that you are a part of this great cause - thanks!

Simple. I bring Thug with me. Who can say, 'no'?

Seriously, the club pres. and Lou (the local R4K coordinator) talked our sponsoring dealership, CalCoast Motorsports, into matching donations up to $5,000. And, since we all like to see dealers sweat... heh, heh, it's easy!

Also, I basically hit up everyone I know and shake 'em down for small cash donations. No one will miss a five or ten spot, and those adds up quick.

Thanks for the info guys. I will have to try the e-mail part. Now that it is getting warmer I do un update training parking lot sessions to friends that I ride with and ask them for donation in return.

I have a flyer at my work, but so far I only scored 25 bucks from it.

Nah, coug, ya gotta hit 'em up face to face. Flyers and emails may get their attention, but you gotta go in for the close. Trust me, five or ten bucks is easy pickin's with just a few words...

Thanks.

off topic. Can you or Mike reply to my other post in regional? I need someone to check out one company and their product face to face. Will give you a chance to hit them face to face for a few bucks as well :yahoo:

Yeah, I saw that, but I'm way north. Mike is closer there and I think Malve is down that way, too. There are others, but hang in there... you'll get a reply (unless it has to do with nekkid wimminz, then I'm on my way!).

HUGE +1 for this foundation and their efforts. Having lost a 7 year old brother to a brain tumor, I can't say or do enough for the PBTF. I plan to visit the Asheville HQ during my upcoming East Coast jaunt in May. Thank you for posting this information.
