Last Saturday, I put on my Darien's, put new batteries in the SPOT tracker, and headed out to US129, the Dragon. Cold, but sunny. I left late morning, to ensure that the below freezing temps around the Cherohala and US129 had time to rise before I got there. When I bought my BMW years ago, my brother invited me to ride with him and his son to the Dragon. As a road, not as much fun as the skyway. Not that crowded if you go early or off season. But the ride, and perhaps a photo from Killboy, became a ritual. A fun time, memorialized in (killboy) pictures. I still have the photo of me on the RT, as well as one with me, my brother, and his son in it.

Thousands of miles (and thousands of dollars in repair costs) later, the BMW would turn into a 2014 FJR1300A. Even though it was cold and off season, I went to the Dragon, took my own photo, and returned several times after.

After four years and 84,000+ miles on the 2014, the 2014 turned into a 2018ES. I wouldn't have enough miles to do my 600 mile break-in fluid change over the weekend...... Ah, unless I do a Dragon run.

This was a solo trip. I had plenty of time to play with the ES. Plenty of time to listen to the Red Fang channel on Pandora. I overshot my 600 mile mileage goal by quite a bit, but all sins were washed away Sunday morning when I performed the introductory service in my garage.
