There are a number or phone apps in use by all sorts of riders, I could not find a comprehensive list of the most used or liked by riders, they are mentioned here and there in different threads. Not sure if this is doomed to the NEPRT wasteland or not, but here it goes.

Post to this thread if you use a phone app that you like to use while riding, and maybe some of the tips to using it as well. Here are the ones I most commonly use when I go for a day or two.

ALLSTAYS- camp and RV- https://www.allstays.com/apps/

I have found this app to be handy to finding camping spots across the country. The cost filter is not too accurate and eliminates some good ones, I mostly use the 'tents allowed' to find the ones I use while camping from the motorcycle. I think it was about $9.00 for the version I have, and it shows many campgrounds that I did not even think about while riding, it also has links to phone numbers and contacts for them as well.

SW Connect- https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/swconnect/id815905559?mt=8

This one connects my i-phone to spotwalla. So you can track and send updates from your phone. I do not have a spot-tracker, and find this one works okay, and it can send unique messages as well as custom ones. Some of the messages it sends along with a maker are: Bonus location, food, gas stop, hotel, help, ok, etc. I have used this and as long as you have good gps signal and cell signal I found it to be pretty reliable. FREE

SPEEDOMETER- https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speedometer-free-speed-limit/id557871911?mt=8

This one not only displays your speed, but can be set for 'limits' changing the speed from green to red if wanted. (I have mine set to no limit

) This app can also control your music, track fuel costs, track your distance, track your location, time etc. FREE

Gasbuddy- https://www.gasbuddy.com/GasBuddyMobileApps.aspx

This one is updated gas prices for whatever fuel type you like, regular, premium etc. It is updated by users regularly and can be sorted by distance or cost. Found it to be pretty accurate and can help get the best bang for your buck by find some other fuel stations that might not be within sight. FREEE

PhoneTracker- https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/phone-tracker-for-iphones/id447442214?mt=8

I use this one for the sanity of my spouse. She used to get nervous when I went solo riding for longer distances. After getting this (I also opted to upgrade to update my position more often) she said it helped her know where I was and if I was okay. This sends your position to other phones that you allow, so they can track you. (I have this on my son's phone as well) This way she does not have to be near a computer like the SWConnect, but only have her phone with her. Free- but with the upgrade $ it updates every minute or so- whatever you set it to.

MyRadar- https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/myradar-weather-radar/id322439990?mt=8

I use this app when I stop for fuel, it shows me current weather RADAR, so I can try to avoid some weather if I am able to, or put on my gear if I am going to go through it. FREE

I am also looking for an app that can download and plot GPX files or the like, as the GPS I use is not a Garmin and I cannot use them. Eventually I would like a ZUMO but have other priorities for the time being.

copilot - true voice routing gps with local stored maps - no data connection needed. ~$10

Bubbler GPS Pro - is an Android application that offers Spotwalla tracking. You can upload photos as well to show up on your Spotwalla map. Usual limitations for phone apps - no upload if you are out of cell range although it will save the points and upload when you are back in cell (or WIFI) range. I have been using it for awhile and it has been excellent. There is a free version as well that does less frequent updates and might not (can't remember) provide for photo upload.

- Bubbler Pro running in b/g

- Smartphone link (Garmin) running in b/g puts weather overlays on my built-in GPS screen.

- Co-Pilot in Over/View-State/View mode.

- Speedo... sometimes, and as pic'd here on my bike....

What year is your Beemer ? Mine does not yet have the digital speed display option in the dash, just in the Nav. And BTW it needs service or have the indicator reset.. Nice setup on the center mount and phone bracket.

+2 on SW Connect.

+1 on Gas Buddy, but saving 10 cents on 4 gallons of gas is not particularly motivating. For the car's 15 gallons, it is.

2014.5 made to my order in Jan '14, delivered to me in March of '14. My dealer (very tech savvy) gave me not only links to the Ocean travel/tracking, but I also got to watch it go thru the Berlin factory assembly line, right up to crating and loading it within the sea-container/tractor trailer. Wayyyy cool, and, 'THE' best red-carpet treatment for anything I've ever purchased ten fold.

Yeah, I know the service light (icon) is on. I do all my own maint/service, so when I get a chance, I'll swing by my dealer so he can reset the indicator. It doesn't bother me seeing that small wrench icon, plus, with no back-lighting? no biggie. Only another K16 brother would even pick this out

. Good catch!

+10 on the Speedometer App. (I can't see the numbers on my '05 Speedometer clearly when it's dark out. Free app download, problem solved!)

Unless you live in the Midwest, Altispeed is even better, giving you both speed and altitude in large print. It's fun just to see what elevation you are at when crusing around through the hills & mtns.

It would be helpful if, along with the app, it's stated whether it's iphone/pad, android or what. May save folks a lot of time from searching for something they can't use.
