Hello

Picked up my 06 AE after a long anxious wait...hooked on cigarettes now and can't quit! Drove it home 225 miles.

Other than a review, all I can say is I love this bike. I am a aircraft, sailplane, and helicopter pilot with many accident free hours. I feel that I have avoided trouble flying being "fussy". To me, this bike is near perfect: no vibration in the hands, the handlebar position (to the rear) is comfortable and feels right, the windshield height is high enough, no whistle, the seat is soft and comfortable, the throttle spring tension is not too tight....The only complaint that I can agree with is the grips are in fact too hard but a set of $7 grip puppies cured that. For reference, I am 5'10".

Wow, a lot of you all out there had me worried and thinking of walking away from my deposit. Me thinks many of you all are too fussy! :D

Fussy .. maybe. But at least I have a clutch.

;-)

Welcome to the fold. I'm NW of Denver. Never ridden a better bike. ENJOY!

Jeezus man, whats with all the bitching about the hard grips?

Just kidding, glad you are happy with it. for the record, I love my FJR as well, but I see no harm in complaining about the things that could use improvement and looking for fixes. By the way, many of us ARE too fussy, but when you run across something that bothers you about the bike, you'll be damn glad that there are a lot of fussy owners out there that have come up with fixes and posted them on the forum.

I guess I must be happy with it. It's 6 weeks old and has about 2,800 miles on it, and thats all weekend pleasure riding.

I have an AE also and like to tons. Question about the Grip Puppies. Do you have to remove the OEM hard grips to install them? I was wondering if the heating elements of the grips caused any install problems. Do the Puppies merely slip over the OEM grips?? Please respond as I have found the grip rather hard also. Thanks

Order the small grip puppies. Just soak them in soapy hot water for a few minutes and slip them right on and over the stock grips...nothing to remove or change. I rode again today (300 mi) and I really like these grips.
