The truck driver caught on camera swerving at a passing motorcycle on May 22, on a rural Bracken County road, was sentenced to prison on Thursday.

Gary L. Hudson, 23, of Pendleton County, entered a guilty plea on Nov. 18, in Bracken Circuit Court to an offer from the Commonwealth's Attorney Office.

He was sentenced Thursday to two years in jail on each of two wanton endangerment counts, 90 days in jail for menacing and a $100 fine for reckless driving. The sentences run concurrent for a total of two years, court officials said.

In the incident, caught on a camera mounted on one of two motorcycles, Hudson is seen driving a truck which enters Kentucky 22 ahead of the motorcyclists and drives in the same direction. As the lead cycle attempts to pass Hudson on the left, Hudson appeared to purposefully steer into the lane and nearly forced the motorcycle off the road. The motorcycle with the camera continued to follow until all three vehicles stopped at an intersection and a verbal altercation with threats ensued.

Hudson is in Mason County Detention Center awaiting transfer to a state prison facility.

I recall seeing this video shortly after the altercation took place and some thought that nothing would happen to the driver. Given that the driver of the pickup pleaded guilty to a plea bargain it would be interesting to know what the authorities were threatening to charge him with.

I thinking it must have been pretty serious for the driver to accept 2 years in jail.

Quite the redneck. The conversation at the end of the tape was interesting. Truckdriver felt the road was his.

I also wonder if the first rider got fined for speeding and passing on a double yellow.

In the video the second rider was provoking the truck driver after they stopped; I'm not sure that is the safest thing -- guy already proved he was capable of a rage and killing.

In September, I was on a 2-lane rural county road in southern Minnesota. As I was passing a Bonneville, the ********* (DB, from here on, kid approximately early 20s) swerved into the oncoming lane, toward me, as I was directly beside him. I moved over to within a couple of inches of the gravel shoulder, and the DB got back into his lane. I completed the pass, then turned around to glare at the DB car driver. He was laughing his *** off. Needless to say, this, ahem, got my attention.

I slowed and pulled into a driveway or field drive entrance, and let him go by, then got back on the road behind him. Luckily, he ended up going all the way to the town I was returning to, approximately 30 miles. I followed him the whole way. He tried speeding up (ha-ha) and slowing down to let me go by, but I had a point to make. He started to fidget in his car quite a bit, and made a couple of cell phone calls. I was hoping he was calling law enforcement, so that I could have the DB explain to the officer why I may be following him. In town, after several turns, he pulled in to an animal hospital parking lot. I take pride in having the sense to keep driving past the parking lot, and going home. My inner motorcyclist wanted to pull him out of his car and "explain" a couple of things to him. You have no idea how hard it was to ride away, and not try to educate the DB. He has no idea how lucky he was that day.

It's not much fun to be passing somebody, then, mid-pass, thinking you may have to ride at highway speed into the ditch, which may contain culverts, rocks, field drives, trees, fenceposts, or all of the above. Since DB thought it was so funny to scare me like that, I was prepared to scare him into thinking he was going to be beaten to death with his own cell phone.

Sorry for the rant, but, as you can see, it's a rather sensitive subject with me.

^^ Great story, sorry that happened, there are many idiots in the world and you got to experience this one.

Just be careful when doing such things that they don't turn on you and decide to make a real life Mad Max movie out of the situation. I see following them would definately put some fear in the person, but don't get yourself in deeper. I know our anger can get the best of us, I'm not one to be preaching this myself, but not being mad I think much more clearly.

I'm glad you were able to put a little doubt into the DBs mind. Maybe next time he will think first before trying to hurt someone.

I do have a question though, as angry as you were (and as I would have been) what would have been the benefit to stopping to give him a piece of your mind? If he ambushed you with a .45 through the head...I'd say there would have been plenty of pieces of your mind.

EDIT: I had a friend/buddy who died from a road rage incident. Took a 10 inch blade to the gut several times...got himself back in his pickup and drove himself to the hospital 3 blocks away. DOA at the ER entrance.

Hence my pride in having ridden past when he pulled into the parking lot. I didn't WANT to, but I let it go and went home. I think I got my point across, as the DB seemed pretty nervous in the car.

And no, proving my point is not worth my life. Sorry you had to lose your friend in such a crappy way.

That video of the turd in the pickup here was SCARY. I don't think mine was THAT close, but it was close enough to produce significant clenching. I'm glad that so many of us are still here, with garbage like that trying to do us in every day.

I'm no saint when it comes to road rage incidents...I certainly understand the anger. I have been known to flip the Timmy finger as I motor past the jerk...sometimes this has led to a chase in traffic. So I definitely hate the pukes that think they can attempt to kill you and get away with it.

EDIT: regarding the original video...that is some scary sh!t...then again, I think many of us have seen some form of that.

A rare WIN for motorcyclists...I wonder how fast they were tooling along on that road before coming up on the truck?
