At this point it looks like the 'beams are in. We usually do some variation of this ride during foliage season. We were a bit late one year and as we passed Melvin Bay I began to notice that BLACK ICE was forming on the road
Great! Now I can let you take point

PS. My son the chief made us claim chowder last night. Working in a restaurant he is not so good at making small batches. So I will be bringing a few Gallons of this very tastey chowder (With cups) to share on the ride!

Now I have been released from my commitment on Sunday. So…

I would like to change the date so Fred and Josie can come along.

It Is now Sunday! The ride master has spoken!! :yahoo:

Looks something like this?

Lake Winni loop

I bet there are some good dining spots in several towns along the lake for those with a peanut allergy!
I don't think anyone ever went hungry on a CBA run.. Now that I am looking at my tread mill and remembering last weekends caloric intake

Awww, ya really shouldn'a done that for little ole' us'ns...

Hopefully that doesn't mess up anyone else's plans.

If this does go down on Sunday we will be there. Actually, we'll probably be at the Airport Diner at 8 for biscuits and gravy.

The 'round the Big Lake loop is a classic one. The roads on the east side have been improved recently, The north side, (Rte 25) not so much. But it will be fun anyway.

Another variant of your Lake Winni loop: Map
Oh geeze... You guys know I get all excited about ride routing.

The part around the lake itself is easy. Just stay close to the water. The there and back can be made more or less interesting though, and you don't want to use the same roads in both directions.

So... considering that the plan is to start in ManchVegas at the Airport Diner, how about this routing? My link

I've varied the approach and the route goes CW around the lake. This is a better option because Meredith gets really busy in the afternoon. I also added my new favorite road, Kings Highway between Wolfboro and Farmington. But we'd still take 107 back down from Pittsfield to just north of Candia. That's a gem as well.

GoogleMap says 5 hours, so it'll be more like 4 1/2.

[edit] For some reason the forum is being extremely ******** and will not accept my google maps link. Working on fixing that OK fixed. I had to use the "Short URL" option. That seems to be a new and useful feature on GM.

Of course, this is all just mental routing masturbation. The Ride Master will be the sole determinant in where we go.

Ride Master chiming in.

I can bow to the experience of my more equipped and skilled piers. Or I can lead a group into oblivion.

I am going oblivion! I am so very happy you guys are getting on board with this ride. And I feel backed up!

If I do no more than open an unseen and unraveled road or share some chowder with friends, I would say my test run will do more for the nerds in the long run than just waiting for a group ride from Fred or Allen.

NERDS (New England riders doing stuff) to me means what it says. We have our leaders and spearheads. Other folks that pick it up, routing and planning. for you and me.

Anyone can make up a ride, and everyone should! I think 2 bikes equal a group ride.

I ride for me first and foremost, the pleasure of friends and food are great benefits. Riding in a group is to enjoy life and all the offerings together.

The amazing thing is we can all plan a ride, invite friends and go get lost together.

I keep the ride leader title because I want YOU to make up the next ride! I will come if I can make your ride the best ride you ever planned.

Sunday 18 Sep 8am at Airport Diner, KSU at 9am (hey I know what KSU means now :) ).

I penciled it into my calendar so I'm planning on being there.

I asked my wife and daughter to come and at least join us for some breakfast. They won't be riding with me but want to include them (in hopes of making my wife see how much fun riding can be when she sees what a great bunch of folks I get to ride with :) ).

Good on ya Ride Master.

We will show up on Sunday with a GPS void of any route.

Fill 'er up please! ;)

(but on second though... how will we know when to give you a hard time when you miss a turn? )

CJ, Just talked to Chris ....

you got enough water ?
Tony, your first mistake was talking to Chris. Second, he recommends that I not attend..... I don't recall his exact words, but he said something to the effect that you drive too slow.

All kidding aside, I was really hoping to make this ride, but I can't make it for Sunday because of my sons football game. I could make it up for a breakfast meet and greet and possibly the beginning of the ride. Let me look at the map.

Exactly! All going acording to plan.... look out for the goats!

Oh man, I just realized that moving the ride to Sunday means I will miss the Unlimited Class at the tractor pulls in my town this weekend.
So are the beams still in?
There will be all kinds of whining and crying until I get past Odell Rd and then I'll be fine  The real reason I go to the Pulls is simply for a photo op, something different to take pictures of. It is a challenge to shoot tractors and tell a story or capture it as an interesting event. It in no way is on the same scale as going for a motorcycle ride (even in the cold and rain).
