The Avons a pretty much gone and I am going to try a set of Pilot Roads. Any suggestions as to air pressure? I have seen some posts as to their preforming better with a lower pressure than Avons.

Ask 10 people that question and you'll get 10 different answers. I run 38/41 unloaded, 40/43 in touring mode. I usually get about 7000-7500 mi. from a set.

This might be stupid question....

is it rear/front or front/rear tire pressure that's been indicated on the previous posts?

Both. The higher pressure is the rear. I run 44/42 all the time. I can vary 5 psi either direction and I don't notice any difference in handling but they seem to wear well at those pressures.

I guess this makes me #4. I run 41/41/43.

And I just said that to mess with you. Actually, when I check them, if they're both 40 or over, I go ride. If I'm filling them, I'll go 41 or 42 in front and 42 or 43 rear. I'm on my first set, so I try to note where they are but not get compulsive about it.

I have to ask if anyone is aware of the science behind tire size load and pressure.

I'm not inferring I do..

But when talking car tires the wider the tire the less air pressure required to sustain the same weight.

If this were translated to motor cycle tires wouldn't that mean less pressure in the rear than the front.

Of course the rear tire manages all propulsion and about 40% of the breaking but as it's considerably wider than the front it would therefore have considerably more load capacity at the same pressure???

and by the way I run 36 front and 38 rear city cycle and bump them up by 2 PSI touring. (it's pretty warm here is Sydney)
