I recently bought the OEM color matched trunk from a forum member. I have ridden the last 10 years (FJR) and have always had GIVI trunks. The GIVI has a better locking method IMO which can not be accessed by mistake. The Yamaha trunk gives me no confidence because of the closeness of the latching handle to the opener and the fact that the Yami sidecases have a history of falling off (mine are pinned). Has anyone found a way to pin the trunk?

I haven't pinned any of my 3 bags, but due to the prevelance of lost bags I always give a "security tug" after locking a bag to ensure it is still latched. Over 80,000 miles now with no lost bags. Maybe I'm just lucky?

I didn't lose mine either but I have seen 2 pop off, usually because of the plastic gear slipping. $3.00 pin makes it a sure thing.

That's only one of the ways the bags fall off. The other way is when the lock screws back out, the lock mechanism falls off, and your bag flops open and all your crack, cocaine, porn and other toys are strewn down the street. I suspect the top case has the same problem .. I should probably threadlock that too.
