Saw this product on a friends site. One guy painted his whole car for a change of pace.

I plan on using some for my Russell Saddle around the bottom rim where the seat makes contact with bike frame is showing some slight wear.

Anyone personally familiar with Plasti-Dip?

I would not recommend Plasti-Dip. It sticks fairly well if put on in a continuous coating, but the edges always peel. It would probably peel off in one big sheet.

It is also not that durable. It's great for tool handles and preventing metal obejcts from scratching other stuff, but it is easily scratched and cut. You can dig through it with your fingernail pretty easily. When he mounts his wheel on his car, tightening the lug nuts will almost assuredly tear through the PlastiDip coating.

It also gets dirty and smudged very easily. For example, if you put Plaasti-dip on something, let it dry, then rub you finger across it, it will leave a smudge made up of skin oils, dead skin cells etc.

If I were you I'd buy some self-adhesive polyurethane film (like the clear headlight protective film) to cover the area that is getting scuffed.

It works pretty well but it's far from painting. I have a bunch of parts on my car that are plastidipped by the previous owner. A lot of it has cured well and is fairly durable. It's nice because if you get tired of it you can remove it easily usually in one sheet.

I tried to buy some earlier this year and was told in a few hardware stores that it's no longer available in Canada because there are some volatile components that are supposed to be quite toxic. Don't know if that's true but that's what I was told.
