I had a few broken screws so I order a package of 100 from McMaster-Carr. I'm packaging up 9 screws per pack (7 required and 2 spares) and selling these for $6.00. Nine screws with shipping is $32.63 from YamahaParts.com.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

You actually need different windshield screws for Gen I/Gen II ? Holy crap, seriously?

Well, not sure if 'need' is the correct term. But they are different part numbers and look different. Gen II look more robust but are covered from sight on the Gen II. Suppose they would look 'ugly' showing as on the Gen I.

Still not a bad price for 9.. However I bought stainless screws from Home Depot for 87 cents each.

My reasoning for this is the plastic screw is a redundant failsafe... The rubber encased nut is designed to pull out of the mount when "excessive" force is applied.

IIRC in the neighborhood of 35 pounds.I wasn't paying attention when the coastguard dude was yappin'

The marine industry went to these nuts in windscreen mounts in the mid 90"s

But don't take me too serious.. I ride a genI with a car tire, so safety isn't an issue ya know.

We don't take you seriously because yer an idiot....who has a car tyre on the rear wheel. But, I will defend your cause as I have broken the windshield mount arm with very little force when I was putting a windshield on poor "jackie-O".

No Chuck... His wife caught him "rubbin' one out" to a picture of Scooter on a gen II

Why ohh why do they get so pissed off about that....

Its mine and I'll rub it all I want to!

Found it in my archives....thought I would throw it out there again....

???? What did you find in your archives? Bluesy's tighty whiteys?
Jeeze -- you're the one who disclosed that the wife busted him rubbing one out. Do we need beemerdons to give you a call for his forum approved SPU sex education lecture? Think: "What do you rub when you're rubbing one out?" Sheesh!!!

So you got the twig back, but has she returned the testicles yet?**

** Check the nightstand drawer -- that's often where they keep 'em. Yer welcome.
